Ok I know that I am being paranoid and worrying uselessly, but I am constantly watching Landon while he sleeps because I am worried about SIDS - am I alone? I don't know why this is on my mind constantly ...I keep thinking about the what ifs - driving myself nuts. Must be hormones? Speaking of hormones, I keep waking up in the night drenched in sweat - when does this stop? He is 5.5weeks. I think I make him uncomfortable while nursing because I am so hot. He nurses so fast and chokes often and seems to stop breathing for a second is this normal? He is constantly moving his hands - they are ALWAYS in his face
some other thoughts
1. 6pm is the witching hour and I have found that if he gets a bath right as he starts his uproar he calms down a lot and I feed him he sleeps it of![]()
2. Target Diapers are pretty decent for day time use since we change them continuously in the day and night time he gets Pampers Swaddlers.
3. The Papasan Cradle swing was the best money that we have ever spent.
4. He poops a LOT
5. Nursing bras suck especially the pads that show thru your shirts as if they (.)(.)s are not prominent enough
6. My barking dogs are walking a fine line
7. Nursing gets easier - pumping sucks
8. Swaddling works if he has access to his hands![]()

Sounds like things are going over all well for you! I was
at #5! I could not wait until I did not have to wear the pads any more! I think we all are paranoid over everything, espically SIDS. I did not have to watch any of my boys constantly but I was always checking on them. I never did have the sweating spells so I cannot help you there, maybe check with your OB when you go for your check? I would not think that it was normal for him to choke at every nursning session or to stop breathing but I do not know

I was very, very paranoid about SIDS. If they ever slept more than 4 hours at a time I was sure they'd died.
My sweating spells lasted for about 6 weeks. It sucked!
JC Penney has some nursing bras that have foam-type cups and they hide everything, including nursing pads. I don't find them comfortable to wear around the house because they're sort of stiff. However, if you're going out they're great. You can even wear them under a white shirt! http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/Product...&RefDeptID=597
It sounds as if you're adjusting to motherhead QUITE well!!!

some other thoughts
1. 6pm is the witching hour and I have found that if he gets a bath right as he starts his uproar he calms down a lot and I feed him he sleeps it of
Most babies have a fussy period inthe evening .. but it sounds like you are handling it well!
2. Target Diapers are pretty decent for day time use since we change them continuously in the day and night time he gets Pampers Swaddlers.
We use no name ones during the days as well ... we like Huiggies better then pampers but hey every baby is different.
3. The Papasan Cradle swing was the best money that we have ever spent.
Anything that buys you an extra hour of sleep or time to get tings done around the house is worth the money. Our swing was worth every penny too!
4. He poops a LOT
It will slow down once his body adjusts. Just to warn you there will be a time within the next couple of weeks where his body take over producing poops and he needs to work for it which can cause fussiness as well. Aren't breastfed poops the best ... MUSTARD!
5. Nursing bras suck especially the pads that show thru your shirts as if they (.)(.)s are not prominent enough
Try the gerber pads or the lanisoh ones that are bigger when you look at them but they take up the entire cup of your bra so it makes it more invisible. The ones that are smaller and thicker tend to show through your shirts more.
6. My barking dogs are walking a fine line
Be patient ... your dogs need time to adjust too. We have three dogs and the baby has actually learned to sleep through their barking. Have the baby give them treats a couple of times a day so that they do not become jealous of the baby!
7. Nursing gets easier - pumping sucks
Nursing becomes so much easier and faster as they age. As for pumping try doing it first thing in the morning after the baby feed as your prolactin levels are the highest then and you will get more of a result after doing it for a couple of days in a row.
8. Swaddling works if he has access to his hands
I read "the happiest baby on the block" they recommend swaddling as well and a bunch of other great techniques that have worked miracles in our home. My baby is almost 5 months and still gets swaddled at bed time.
hmmmmmm and my days pretty much are on his schedule and I can get nothing done with out needing and excuse LOL
Welcome to the world of no showers, dirty house, sleep deprivation and a meal when you can fit it in! Isn't motherhood wonderful?
The worry about SIDS does get a little better. I too was paranoid and when he sleeps too long or doesn't breathe loud enough for me I poke him making him move or something.
Just think when this worry passes we adopt new ones!
Congrats on your new baby!
