Financing through friends/family?

I was told by my SIL who went through infertility to start asking around to family and friends to help with the costs for IVF treatments. Just wondering if anyone else has taken this route.

I feel guilty for asking although it would be helpful. My DH and I are trying to save on our own, and feel it's not right to ask others for money so we can have a baby. Would like to know what others have done or been faced with when trying to save/finance the procedure. Thanks.

Dh and I too don't want to ask family. It would be different if they offered help if I said we can't have anymore because we can't afford treatment, but I don't see it happening. My dad isn't really for IVF etc...and dh's parents couldn't help so we are stuck.

My dad would probably help if I asked, but I can't make myself do it. Something about knowing my baby is here because my DAD payed for IVF puts me off of it. We are seeking loan options.
