Selling things from home?

DH and I are starting to talk about paying for procedures. Our ins covers all of the testing and we are responsible for paying 30% on meds but they don't cover ANY procedures. I've read of people making extra cash by doing the usual party schemes (candles and makeup stuff). I did the makeup scheme a few years ago and found that I lost money.

I was thinking of passing out ads to friends and family to pass out for homemade frozen cookie dough. Making this wouldn't cost too much. I have a kitchenaide mixer so it would be tossing the ingredients together, scooping out mounds of dough and freezing, then packaging it. I haven't run the numbers yet but I would think about $5 per dozen might be about the cost.

Thoughts on this?

It's a very creative way to make money - I would love to hear if you have success. The only caveat I would mention is that your health department probably requires you to do a class like Safe Serve. They are cheap and may take a day, but then folks who don't know you might be more comfortable trusting you. Just call your local health department or look online to find the requirements.
Ready to frost sugar cookie hearts for Valentine's Day would be a hit at my house!
