Has anyone been a egg donor to earn money from their IVF

I am thinking of becoming an egg donor to save money for my next IVF cycle but like to know if anyone has done it and share their stories?

I like to do it now but I am worried about when I do my own next cycle. I plan to try again in December and not sure if they were will be too close togeather and if there is any problems with being on the medications for so long.

Thanks.

I tried but I was considered too old. My clinic restricted to 31 or 32 yrs of age...

Being on the meds a long time is not the problem.

I would be worried that..what if the other couple has a baby from my egg, and then I cannot have a baby? How will I feel about that?

If this does not bother you....then this might be a good option for you.

I was a donor to help with the costs of my IVF. I did a shared cycle where I was one reciepient and the IM was the other. She covered my meds and the procedure costs, I just had to pay sperm, freezing, and a few meds, plus meds after pregnancy achieved, and all the travel expenses. It worked out great financially however in some ways I do regreat it. It was alot of extra stress worrying about weither she got pregnant as well as if I do.

I am happy that I did it because I couldn't have afforded to have my daughter if I didn't but it was alot of work to go through. Very very emotional, good luck with your decission.

If someone else was able to get pregnant with my eggs, I knew it's not my eggs :-)

Actually I love to help someone who is infertile to become a mother as well.

I found out recently the reason for my miscarriage was due to a helpful bacteria (NOT helpful in my case) -- Mycoplasma hominis and ureaplasma urealyticum.

Hi.

I am in the early stages of applying to be an egg donor. I have completed my written profile and still need to submit pictures. I too hope to offset future IVF expenses - hoping to cycle late 2009/early 2010. We want one more!

I have had a successful IVF in the past (my own in 2007) so I guess I am a "proven" donor (although I didn't really DONATE). However, I just turned 31....so I am at the tail end of age eligibility. Most clinics cut it off before age 33. I am hoping I still have something to offer other couples though! My eggs seem to have worked well for me so far...I have four kids now!

I think for some, egg donation is a great option...and the reward for the recipient is awesome!

I am a 4 time egg donor cycling for my 5th donation right now. My compensation from this donation will pay my costs for my own January IVF. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Hi Deneice - I do have a question for you. Do they tell you if you recipient was successful or not? Just cursious how that works since some people are tagged as "proven donors"......so I assume you know, right?

Hi Lets Try Again,

For me, yes I will find out. This is a woman I met and we decided to do a shared cycle. She has done one donor cycle and it did not work. Her ED did not produce usable eggs. She can not afford another $25,000 cycle. So we actually know each other and talk, etc.

For my egg donations I have completed, I do know that they all got pregnant. A total of 5 babies have been born so far; 2 sets of twins and 1 singleton.

Most clinics do everything anonymously unless you bring in your own recipient. There are several sites where you can meet recipients.

Deneice - WOW - good for you! That's awesome! I am sure your own IVF cycle will be just as successful....you must have some super eggs!

I just submitted my profile last week and it was put online on their website. I got an email yesterday that I have an interested recipient already! Looks like this may happen for me sooner than I thought!

I am pretty sure my eggs "work" since I have 4 kids - one via IVF (after the tubal ligation following #3) but it is a different kind of pressure when it is for someone else.......I think it might be more stressful than my own cycle. I don't want to disappoint anyone. LOL!
