Has anyone withdrawn money from their ROTH IRA to pay for IVF or infertility treatments? I am contemplating taking half out of my IRA if there is no penalty. I looked on the IRS website and it says that medical expenses are classified as a hardship withdrawl, but I'm just not sure if you are still charged the penalty or not. Anyone done this?

Haven't done it for IF, don't know for sure if it could work for medical expenses, but also call tax person - cause I was penalized for a few yrs. as a "non saver" on my taxes for closing out/taking out a small amount accidently when changing jobs (paperwork issue).
