Mass Fertility Laws
I have a friend that is considering moving to Boston cause she heard that they have laws in place that require fertility coverage. Is this true? Any idea what the rules are?
We have coverage (well $3500 lifetime max) already though our work, wondering if she moved there she would get more coverage??

This may help you... http://www.resolve.org/site/PageServ...ic_coverage#MA
Good luck! I lived in MA for a while with insurance and I didn't even know about this law. Jennifer |

It is state mandated law that all companies in Massachusetts have infertility testing and treatment as a benefit under their health insurance.
We have BXBS of Mass through my employer, and our coverage is 6 IVF cycles, 6 FET cycles, as well as donor sperm and donor egg. Clearly for the donor egg and sperm we have to meet some type of criteria, but it really is a great benefit. |

One more thing, what if the company you work for is out of TX but you live in Boston? Do the same rules apply?

Not all Ins. in MA cover IF treatments
I live in MA and we have had to pay just about everything out of pocket. We have done 4 IUI's and 3 IVF/ICSI cycles...none which were covered. We have BCBS under my DH's Ins. It's the federal plan PP0, and it only covers some of the meds. and u/s, and b/w...that's it!
We were very misled. When we started with our Fertility clinic and RE 3+years ago...my sister who lives in CA told me "you'll be lucky, because MA is a mandated state for IVF" but that's not true. It depends on the type of Ins. you have. Not all Ins. covers. We have pretty much gone through most of our savings for ART treatments, but were thankful we had the $$$ to persue. We are now at a crossroads...and have been pondering options for our next cycle. Even a DE cycle..we're fearful about the cost.... It is so unfair that it's none of our procedures have been covered, and I get so upset thinking about it. We have issues too, I have moderate endo, and DH has vericocele, resulting in Low count/motility.
