Hi-
I went to Dr. Barnett at Presby Plano for my IUIs and first two IVFs. He is an excellent RE and the lab is well know for being one of the best in the country. However, I had my third and successful IVF with Dr. Le. We tried a completely different protocol just to do something new and we had success. Dr. Le is more reasonable for IVF, however I would not go to him for an IUI. His IUIs are not as closely monitored as they were at Dr. Barnett's office and they don't do them on Sundays, which can be a problem if that's the day your follicles are ready. I don't know how much he charges for IUIs, but you can check out if IVF rates at his website www.ivfmd.net. Dr. Barnett charged $250 for the IUI itself, plus your sonos and bloodwork will add up, depending on your insurance. I usually had about 4-5 sonos per IUI. Hope this helps! |

Dr. Barnett's office is located at the Presby Plano Hospital. The sperm wash is done at the hospital in the ARTS department. Your dh will drop off his sample or collect it there in the ARTS department, and when it is ready, you carry it to Dr. Barnett's office for the IUI. However, if your IUI falls on a weekend, Dr Barnett and Dr. Douglas share weekends and it is done at Dr. Douglas's office and they wash the sperm there. Two of our IUIs fell on a weekend and we dropped of the sperm, went out for breakfast and came back like 2 hours later for the IUI.
As far as the costs go, you will probably need to contact your insurance company to find out exactly what was covered for IVF. Our insurance paid 20% of lab work and sonograms, but nothing else. I think we paid about $8500 for the first IVF with Dr. Barnett ($3000 Dr. Barnett's fees, $3500 for the ARTS department fees, and the rest was meds) in addition to my copays for the sonos. Our second IVF cost more because we discovered we needed ICSI from the first IVF (only had 2 fertilize naturally) so ICSI was another $2000. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other ??s Last edited by kellbell; 11-18-2007 at 08:28 PM. |

katie, if you have insurance, you need to find out who's contracted w/ your company. there are tons of Drs in the dallas/plano area who are very good at assisted repro. But, to save yourself money, find one who is contracted w/ your company to make sure you are covered. they will do all the insurance work for you.
you should have a website to access for your benefits that will list who is contracted. if you have any questions, PM me. Thanks and good luck!

I love Dr. Kaufman. I just switched to him.
I told him this is a one time shot for us. Make it work. Obviously, he didn't promise that but he was very honest about what was and wasn't posible. He is very no B.S. He put me at ease a lot. He's in FW though but that's just an FYI. |
