CareMark prescription plan Rocks! Check even if your IVF isn't covered

I'd mentioned this on someone Else's thread but really didn't want it to get lost because it helped us SOOOO much. I pray it catches someones eye who can use it.

Our Med insurance is horrible. We have BC/BS FED ppo. None of IVF is covered at all. Well, our finance person at Doctor's office said that it probably wouldn't cover meds either.

Well...Of course our Med plan didn't, but our Prescription Plan Insurance covered ALL MEDS including injectibles. (Standard CareMark) We saved thousands. We went to our local chain pharmacy and spent right at 100.00 (a couple they had to order but all of them came in next morning) Two pages of scripts filled was a piece of cake. (one had to be compounded and it ended up being cheaper than we thought)
At first they said it would be 379.00 and we were still elated compared to the 4K-6K we were originally quoted. Turned out we went to pick them up and it was just .62 for the one med LOL
So... to list what we had to get here for barely less than 100.00 total is:

Desogen
Methylprenisolone
Novarel
Follistim AQ 900
Lupron
Micro Dose Ovidrel
Progesterone in oil

I really hope this helps someone. This was a major factor for us not continuing last year. The meds alone cost over half what one round of IVF cost for us.
PM with any questions.
Lori

How do you sign up for this? Is it something your work has to over or can you pick up as an individual?

Ours was just automatically added onto our medical plan through my DH job. I did't even know that was our provider for prescriptions.
If you/husband have insurance, check to see who provided the script coverage.

Can u give us phone numbers to your prescription provider to see if we can purchase it ourselves or add it to our plan? We have BCBS also but our priscriptions are provided by bcbs.

Yes! Try this.
This is the number we have on program card.
They can probably direct you if you need a different number.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

I also have CareMark for RX coverage. Do you know if they cover Gonal F or Repronex?

We live in Utah and my husband is an Ironworker so this is coverage through his Local Ironworkers Union.

Just a word about Caremark...

They were our prescription provider when we had Humana insurance. It all depends on your company's infertility coverage and whether or not they include/cover the meds.

Our health benefits were a *lifetime max* of $4000 (no matter what treatment you did). Meds were a part of that $4000. We had a 90/10 plan.

Although we only paid our 10% portion and it wasn't skyhigh, the full amount went against that lifetime max. Checking online I found that Caremark charged almost *double* as some of the online pharms my re had referred to us.

So, again it depends on your co's coverage, if they cover the meds and at what percentage and if you have a maximum.

Our Horizon BC/BS doesn't cover IVF or FETs, but our CareMark RX plan associated with our insurance DID cover my FET meds. Our total so far is about $200. It could have been MUCH higher... the endometrin is almost $500 / month, but we only paid $40.
