Get AFLAC....so worth it...

I was just thinking about all this financial stuff and thougt of my AFLAC insurance. Our regular insurance does not pay for anything. We have already forked out over 30k between IVF and the vascetomy reversal. When I became pregnant with the triplets I heard about AFLAC and signed up after I was already 3 months along. Well turned out to be a good thing because as long as I delivered due to complications I would get money back. Obviously very few that are pregnant with multiples do not have complications. Well I got paid $100 for each day I was in the hopsital and so did each of my babies. Jaxon was in the hospital for 89 days before he died...see where I am going with this. Because we got this money this is how we will afford to try again. I know in some states they exclude you if you have ever gone through infertility treatments or if the pregnant results from infertility treatments. California doesn't have this exclusion yet, as far as I know. Just thought you all would appreciate the possible extra cash if you all get multiples...

I used to sell AFLAC. A hospital plan will pay for your hospitalization, ICU plan is also good as many preemies go to NICU and it will pay per day. It will NOT pay for IVF. Make sure the agent explains everything to you, some agents are better than others at being creative and getting you more money.

I have AFLAC too...

It does not pay at all for IVF or any infertility treatment because it is considered optional. I have it for hospital costs, since I have had other surgeries in the past.

She wasn't saying it PAYS for IVF. She was talking about the hospital and ICU policy. She lost all 3 of her babies who were born too soon. But because she had AFLAC coverage when she was pregnant, she now has enough money to do IVF again because of what AFLAC paid her. Just wanted to clairify that.

Rachel, I'm so happy to hear you talk about trying again. I think about you a lot and pray for you often!

If you end up needing Boost/Ensure for your next pregnancy, I'm happy to mail it to you again.

...thinking of you and kenny

We are just starting off with the IF testing at what point do you need to do this by? I live in CA so I guess the exclusions are in my faovr for the moment? Anyhow do I need to do it before I get diagnosed?

Katy,

I did not get it until I was about 14 weeks pregnant with triplets. When my agent came to my house to sign papers it was already plainly obvious I was expecting. I was huge. The paperwork didn't ask if I was pregnant. Some states will not cover you if you are going through any infertility treatment. So you don't have to get it before (at least I didn't have to), but my agent said it is a lot easier if you do. It takes longer to prove it wasn't a pre-existing condition (besides preg) and that it was a complication. For me I went into Congestive Heart Failure so that wasn't too hard to prove was a complication. I would of course check again...the rules could have changed. If you don't get it before you will only get paid out if you have complications, not for a normal delivery. I had the hospital policy that I got through an individual policy. You can only get the ICU policy through an employer so I couldn't get that. My dues were about $80/month and then it went up to about $95/month when my babies were born. I got paid out for my emergency cerclage, anesthesia, c-sec (due to CHF) and each day in the hospital. My babies were paid out for each day they were each in the hospital, each surgery, helicopter ride to another hospital, anesthesia. WHere in CA are you?
