Hello Ladies, So I just found out a few days ago that I have a fibroid (8.4x7.0x5.1) and It is in the back of my uterus. Well I know i'm gonna have surgery, my doctor wants to do the KeyHole surgery. But I have a few questions...
1)How long was your recovery?
2)How long were you bloated/swollen for?
3)How long until you felt about 95% back to normal?
4)After 2 weeks, did you feel like you can stand up and work? (I work for an office and constantly having to stand up from my seat.)
My doctor said surgery might be the first week of May but i'm going to Europe May 23. Its a 6 hour flight. So i'm wondering if i'll be ok by then or should I just wait until I return?
Thanks for helping me out, this decision is so confusing for me. I don't know whats better, Part of me wants this thing out of me and the other wants to wait until June and enjoy Europe pain free. HELP!

Hello Cristina,
I just finished having my 3rd Myomectomy a few days ago. Recovery is different for each person.
I have always been able to drive after bout 2wks with each surgery. This time I had two one the size of a golf
ball, and the other fibroid was bigger then my Uterus A couple of cm's bigger than the one you have. So, it was pretty good size. Recovery is about 6 to 8 weeks.
However, 3 months to be absolutely totally back to normal. Bloating was different with each surgery. My tummy went down right after surgery. I've always felt back to normal in about three weeks. However, the inside was still healing so I made sure I stayed aware of that. As far as your vacation, I'd really advise you to enjoy your Vacation and then get it done when you get back.
Hope this helps. Enjoy Europe, it's Great!

Faith, Thank you so much for replying, I'm glad you gave me some insight on this time frame of healing. I also felt the same way about having the surgery after Portugal so today I made my appointment for June. Feel Better

Oooh...I'm so jealous of your trip

Anyway, I had the open myomectomy rather than the keyhole so I don't know what the recovery is like. For mine, I was off of work for 6 weeks. Could get around okay after about 2 weeks but I was very, very tired and had to take a nap every afternoon.

6 weeks, Thats why I was worried about having surgery before going away cause I was worried that maybe they might have to cut me then the trip gets cancelled. I'm happy its only in June then I can recover all summer. Thank you ladies for all your help and info.
