Anybody know the recurrence rate of a small fibroid removed with an operative hysteroscopy?
Did anybody have an operative hysteroscopy? What was your experience?
I-AM-FREAKING-OUT.
Thanks

Recurrence rate of fibroid after an operative hysteroscopy?

I read 10% recurrence after 5 years (27% after 10 years). I had laparoscopic surgery to remove one large subserousal fibroid (cautarize a small fibroid, and remove an ovarian cyst). Five years later I have no obvious recurrence. I did have an operative hysteroscopy, but it was to reshape my uterine wall (and remove a polyp).
What aspect is freaking you out? For me, the most important aspect was trusting my surgeon was highly skilled and the staff and facilities were safe.

Hi, thanks .... what scares me is the surgery itself, never had one with anesthesia .... but I have to be brave and hope for the best.
Did these surgeries help you conceive?
Thanks

For me, anesthesia makes recovery rough the first day (I have nausea, lingering headache), but it is doable. I'm sensitive to meds in general so I ask the dr to keep that in mind and start me with a partial dose. Yes, these surgeries helped me on my way to a "take home" babe. Our situation is a "perfect storm" of mild to moderate factors on my part and my DH's; my surgeries corrected some of my issues which I am sure contribute beneficially to the whole.
In my youth, I had my wisdom teeth removed and a sinus surgery, but during TTC I had five surgeries (2 reactive, 3 proactive). I'm a veteran now in part and like I said, it's doable. For me, I believe they did more good (clear the way for baby!) than bad (adbominal adhesions).
Wishing you well,
~S

child ment
I had a myomectomy, I agree that the worst part of being put under is waking up. I have had a lap, myo, and after my twins were born (fibroid was my problem once it was gone I got pregnant 2 months later) I had to have my gall bladder removed. I tend to have nausea, slight headache and dry mouth, my blood pressure also tends to plummet a bit but that is a me thing and not an everyone thing. Good luck!

Myo
Oh wow, I know a myomectomy and a lap are serious surgeries where they cut open -
seems like I am having a hysteroscopy because I got the "less common" form of fibroid, the submucousal so at least, hopefully, they don't need to cut anything for now
I really really really hope this is gonna help me conceive finally.
