Just got my myomectomy booked for the end of August. I'm starting to get a bit nervous over it, but relieved to finally get things underway. I'm going to go through this board to get some hints and tips for before/after the surgery. Will ask any questions I don't see the answers to.

Is your surgery going to be done laproscopically? I had the surgery in April. Was so nervous too! But so happy to finally have it taken care of. I'll answer any questions you have if I can help.

Thanks fdny wife! Unfortunately I'll have the full cut. I just want it over with and be through with the worst part. How painful was the aftermath of your procedure?

Congrats on moving forward! In 2006, I had a 4cm fibroid removed and another one or to small ones cauterized. Five years later I appear to be fibroid free. I have a friend who had 12 fibroids removed and 3 or 4 left (too risky to remove) and bore her son (donor embryo) last year! For me the pain after surgery was readily handled with anti-inflammatories (e.g. high dose Ibu), I don't do well with narcotics (e.g. Vicodin). The worst for me are the short-term "side effects" of surgery: the shoulder pain (couple hours) from the gas and nausea (couple hours)/headache(few days) from anesthesia. I've had a few procedures, I definitely moved more slowly for a few days up to a few weeks depending on the incision type, but in my memory all were manageable.
Wishing you well!
