Let's add fibroids to my list..

Long story short...

Hubby and I were finally going to be started on injectibles yesterday, but as we were headed to Mobile to see the RE, the RE's nurse called in a frantic..stated that my last ultrasound (Nov.19th) had been placed on the wrong chart..and there were two problems: 1.) Uterine lining was waaaay too thick for it to have been a day 3 vaginal ultrasound. 2.) A large fibroid tumor was found.

Of course I start crying and asking questions, unfortunately I got the "non-informed" phone nurse who really didn't know anything. Only thing she could tell me was that an in office hysteroscopy would need to be done 6-10 days after my next cycle started.

I don't know what to say or think..I'm so upset about all of this right now.

Hubby and I have been trying for 3 years...I have PCOS and have been maxxed out on Clomid. Recently lost 60lbs. at the advisement of my RE.

Any info would be appreciated..such as treatment info and any other info you have on the thickening of uterine lining.

First - calm down. This is AMAZINGLY easy to take care of, and it just means a delay in your cycle, not the end of the world. Hard to know that, however, when you have a clueless nurse!

Fibroids are most always benign, though they are troublesome things and worth getting rid of when they get past 5cm, or if they're in the uterine lining. Is this your case? Generally the type of surgery you mention is for women who have a fibroid growing in the lining.

We've had a couple of gals over on the high FSH thread have that surgery. One is pray2rita, the other is babyface. Rita is fidgety about any type of medical treatment, but she'll tell you that overall she made out fine with the surgery. She's about to embark on her IVF treatments. Babyface had a fibroid removed then got pregnant on her first IVF. So, think of this as is just a temporary roadblock and you have to take a detour before getting back on the road!

And by the way - that's the EASIEST surgery for fibroid removal! It's quick, and it's got a short recovery time. A full myomectomy (which is what I had to remove 3 very large fibroids) takes 6 weeks and 3 months to recover from. And as you can see from my signature, I managed to get pregnant, even though I still have many small fibroids left.

Hang in there!

Thanks Dixie for all the info!

I'm not quite sure at this point what type I have, just know that I'm scheduled for a hysteroscopy on Tuesday. What a great Christmas present! I've had a hyst. done before, but of course that was when I had a laparoscopy as well..so I was good and knocked out!
