Polyps and Fibroids

I have a history of multiple polyps had 2 D&C's the last one in NOvember 2007. I've been TTC, my first IUI was April 2008. AF came and I told my RE that I felt some polyps may have come back, due to a stoppage in my period then it restarting. I had a hysteroscopy with saline today and RE found a fibroid? RE wants me to go loop removal of this fibroid. Has this happened to anyone before? I feel alone with this. Is it possible for a fibroid to cause this kinda stoppage in my period?

You are not alone. I've had 3 surgeries now for polyps that keep growing back and the last one they weren't sure if it was a polyp or a fibroid. I just had it removed in April. I don't think it caused a stoppage in my periods or anything like that but RE would not let me move ahead with fertility treatments until it was removed since he felt it could interfere with both getting pregnant or a pregnancy if it occurred. Will you be going ahead with another surgery? Did you take meds for your IUI? Maybe it was the meds/hormone changes that caused your AF to be different. I've taken numerous different meds in the past that caused changes to my cycle that was always very predictable before the IF treatments.

I will be going ahead with the removal of this fibroid/polyp, just like you my RE doesn't want to proceed further cause it could interfere with implantation he says.
For the first IUI, he gave me Clomid 100 and Ovridel.

Maybe it was the clomid that caused AF to be a little off. Good luck with your surgery. I'm sure you are feeling frustrated right now having to wait again, I felt that way anyway while I was waiting but it is worth the peace of mind knowing that everything is ok when you ttc again otherwise you will be wondering if the fibroid is causing problems.

Polyps

I had only one polyp in my uterus and doctor told me to have it removed. Afterwards I asked one othe doctor and he told one polyp won't make any difference so surgery was not required. After the removal of polyp, i felt change in my bleeding pattern. We tried 4 IUI's and one IVF after that but never got pregnant.
I always felt that it was because of surgery I am not getting pregnant. Has anyone got pregnant after surgery? Now I feel we have to think twice before going for surgery. Any advice on this.

I just had a polyp removed that was less than 1 cm. I hope it helps me get pregnant. I have already noticed that I did not have any discomfort during sex for the first time in 3 years, so I am very hopeful!
