myomectomy recovery

Well everyone, I had my myomectomy on February 5, and I have been home since the 7th. I'm still quite sore and swollen, but getting better all the time. I was just wondering, how long does it take for the swelling to go down? Despite losing eleven fibroids, ranging in size from peas to baseballs, and having a very small appetite, I have gained 5 pounds. Is this normal? Any idea how long it should take to lose that? Also, my incision site is numb and my nurse said it could be that way for several years. I'm just wondering how long it took for yours to get feeling back in it. Thank you! =)

There is athread I started on getting pregnant after a myo. Lotsa info.
First off, congrats on the surgery. You are very bloated, which I was too. I had to wear my dads sweat pants home. That will go down over the next 2 weeks of laying around, no driving for 2 weeks, eat lotsa protein, drink lots of water, and take it easy. No lifting. M y incision is STILL numb. Theuy have to go through layers upon layers, upon layers to sew up. It will be numb for a very long time. Its not that bad of s recovery. Let me know if I can answer any questions.

All of the other things I mentioned have gotten much better, but I am still bleeding vaginally! It's been 12 days and it's getting really annoying. I talked to my doctor today and he said it's normal, but he couldn't tell me when it would stop because it is different for everyone. I had a hysteroscopy at the same time as my myomectomy and I'm not sure which one is causing the bleeding, or both, but I'm tired of it! Does anyone have experiences to share on how long it took for the bleeding to stop?

I had a myomectomy in July 2006 and I can't say I recall any type of bleeding after my surgery?! I'm sure its nothing to worry about and your doctor would definitely advise you if it were. I'm still NUMB in one area and as you were--was told that it would be that way for YEARS. I was horrified and scared but now I know its the norm for this surgery. I was a fast healer and was doing EVERYTHING I wanted in six weeks.

Good luck to you...

I had a myomectomy in Aug.05 and I remember being bloated. I wasn't weighing myself back then so I can't tell you about weight gain.

My incision area never regained feeling. But seems to be the case with any surgery I've had in the last few years. Weird.

And I do remember bleeding afterward. Blood clots actually for a few days. I think I bled for a couple of weeks too. I also had a myomectomy and hysteroscopy at the same time. It never hurts to ask the Dr. though if it would bring you peace of mind. I will add that ever since I had those procedures AF has been so much better. I used to have the worst cramps and really heavy bleeding before but now AF isn't such a big deal. I hope that happens for you too.
