    How Many Baby Shower Guests?

I have started compiling a baby shower invite list and it is getting long! Since dealing with the holidays, I was planning on having one in my hometown in early January and then one where I live now after the baby comes. The list for the one in my hometown seems to be getting too big. What do you think a good number of guests are at a baby shower?

I think it depends on (1) you (2) who ever is hosting (3) the space being used to hold the party. ;-)

I haven't actually been to many baby showers, and ours is going to be a family open-house (so not a traditional shower), so I'm not much help. The biggest one I remember going to was probably around 30 women, and while it felt a bit big at first (during the mingling phase) once we sat down (pg-mama was opening presents) it was fine. And at the end (more mingling) it was fine again.

I'll be curious to see what others say.

My list is up to about 35 women, but my shower will be co-ed so that number may double if everyone shows. I figure the more the batter... this is our 1st baby and possibly only baby, so we are going all out!

I think the more the marrier...If your list is getting really long, I would maybe not invite casual acquainteces. But if you have lots of family and close friends, than that's wonderful and would not worry about the number.

Well, since I am having a non traditional pregnancy, being a single woman who did IVF, I figured I would have a non traditional shower.

Before I got pregnant I used to like to host parties. I figure this is my last chance at a party for a loooong time, so I am having a baby shower/cocktail party. That way I can invite both male and female friends and family, and everyone can have a good time. Even as a kid I didn't like baby shower games, so this way I don't have to play the games either. I just want people to mingle and eat and enjoy themselves.

That said, I am inviting about 75 people, and am just waiting for the RSVP's to keep coming in.

Like I said, I am a very non traditional woman.
