Our 6 month update

I've been somewhat lacking here as well but we had our 6 month update so I thought I'd share.

Jordyn - 15 lbs. 2oz. and 25-1/4"
Jacob - 14 lbs. 9oz. and 26-1/2"

So - Jordyn is our little chunk and Jacob is a tall, lean boy. They are both doing really well. Been eating two meals a day and 25 oz (I'm somewhat sad to report all formula now but they seem to be just fine with it). Doc said we should move up to 3 meals a day now and can introduce oatmeal cereal instead of just rice. Probably should give Jacob a little more food than Jordyn since he's much lower on his growth chart (barely 10%). I've been feeding them exactly the same - - same time, same food, same amount since they haven't indicated a need otherwise.

Neither has teeth yet but doc says we're close. She thinks Jordyn will be first but Jacob is the one who has been drooling all over the place for some time now. The bibs get soaked!

They both are rolling over all the time, playing with toys well, starting to love their exersaucer/walker things more. Reaching for toys beyond their reach and Jordyn is even getting her knees under her belly as if she's going to take off after them. Jacob is much more laid back and would rather have us move him around. In a way they are becoming more independent to play on their own (but not really sitting up on their own yet) but in another way seem to value their cuddle time more than ever, too.

Also 'gabbing' constantly. Jordyn also has the super high pitched squeal....she cracks herself up! We hear this at home all the time and we knew it was just a matter of time before it happened in church. Well, this past Sunday, everyone heard her.....right during the sermon!

And best of all? Consistently sleeping 10 hours at night (from 9pm to 7am)!!

So - essentially all is well over here. One more month and I need to leave these precious ones for 4 days. I am the matron of honor in a wedding in NY. DH and I decided we'd leave them at home. Grandma and Aunt are going to stay here with them so they can have their own house, cribs, toys, etc. We are sooo going to miss them!

Oh - also, my work schedule is going great. I'm working 3 days a week and loving it. The job part is going well and I love the days I get to spend with them. I can't imagine doing anything else.

1) Both - this has also become my new avatar
2) Jordyn - just before bath time
3) Jordyn (again since it was a funny one)
4) Jacob - just before bath time

Hey there girl!!! Great report!!!! It's so good to hear from you! I've been posting mostly on the Jan. board since this one is so slow. But I check new posts everyday here & was so happy to see yours! Jordyn & Jacob are absolutely precious!!! Sounds like they are doing very well. Sounds like they will be moving on their own any time now! Don't you just love this phase???

Dalton & Dylan are doing very well. They are both a little over 16 lbs. now according to our home baby scale. They are eating cereal twice a day now as well...rice, oatmeal, oatmeal w/ bananas, & barley. I'm still bfing - but every 3 hours now instead of every 2 hours. Gives me some time to actually do something in between feedings now! They are sleeping in their own cribs in the nursery now from about 8-9pm until 7-7:30am - consistently since we started putting them in their cribs 4 nights ago. They get 2-3 shorts naps a day. Dylan turned from his back to belly once 5 days ago & hasn't done it since. Dalton has yet to do it - but he sits on his own once I put him into position, for a few minutes at a time. I have to blame myself for them not flipping & moving as much yet because we really didn't let them have floor time as much as they should because of the dogs & the dog hair. I'm over it now & now we put them on the floor as much as possible (on a blanket). We got them an exersaucer & jump & go seat for the doorway & they LOVE both!!! They totally jump so much they fall asleep in the jump & go. I'm going to get another one today & put it on the doorway across from the other one so they can play at the same time. No teeth yet - but they are shoving EVERYTHING into their mouths & drooling all the time. So I think it's any day now. Dalton babbles up a storm. We actually thought he said "hello" day before yesterday after DH said it. He may have - but has no clue what it means. Dalton just does high-pitched "hmmmmmm" all the time. He had about a day or 2 of vowel sounds & hasn't really experiemented with that since. He likes his "hmmmmmmm"!!!

I'm just really loving this stage. It makes me want to have another baby because I know they will grow out of it so soon. But we are done! I brought up the topic of a third the other day to DH & he shut me down. I know all the reasons why we shouldn't/can't. Oh well! I'm working a little in my new office out in our rennovated garage. But they are still doing some work to it, so I can't fully get organized & spend my days out there w/ the boys yet. Glad we didn't invest in a 2nd swing, 2 more bouncy seats, etc. to put out there. By the time we spend time out there, they will have outgrown all of that.

Sorry so long! Good to hear from you!!! Give those munchkins hugs for me!!!
:-) Jen

Hi Joy,
Wonderful update (and you too Jen).
Jordyn and Jacob are just totally adorable. I love 'em
Your new avatar is precious too.

I'm so glad you posted - it been kind of quiet around here lately.

Our (..not so) little Jacob is doing awesome. This truly is a fabulous stage. I want him to stay this age forever - and definitely thinking about (...and working on) #2!!

Best wishes
Tru

Hi guys!

'Member me? I am here so infrequently, but love to see your updates!

Joy, I had to literally roll my eyes when you called Jordyn a chunker! My girls went for their 6 month last week and Georgia is 19.4 and Madeline 19!! That's chunker! I had someone stop me two weeks ago and ask me if they need to go on a diet. Did I rip right into that woman! For cryin' out loud they were 3.15 and 4.3 at birth and now I'm supposed to feel bad that they are too big? WHATEVER!*!?*!

Like Jen, mine aren't interested in rolling. I work so hard at it with them everyday, but they are just not into doing it on their own. They are so deseparate to sit up though and are able to do so for a couple of minutes here or there.

they have been on 100% formula since 10 weeks. I just couldn't do it anymore. huge kudos to you guys for really committing! I just couldn't make any milk by the end... and it was easier for me to quit then to straighten out my own sleep pattern and diet to try to get things flowing again.

I am going back to work in sept - 4 days. I am really sad about it, but trying to stay positive. I am just happy I was able to be home this long.

Time to renew my membership so I can see all your pics! Sounds like everyone is doing great. Keep up the good work!

Hey Lauren!

Great to hear from you and read about all these updates from you, Tru, Jen and Joy! Wow how time flies. I am so glad everyone is doing well. I am trying not to compare my little guy with other kiddos because I am feeling like he's behinn...he's still not sitting and when you give him floor time on his tummy, he rolls onto his back and laughs!!! Time will pass quickly enough that I am ok with it and simply have to stop comparing!!!

I am so glad to hear from everyone - I miss you all!

Hi all,
Just a quick hello. We just got back from 2 weeks at the shore. J.B. loved it; he's a little fish...loves the pool, ocean, bath..any water! He has his 6 month appointment next week so I will post updated stats then. He weighs at least 20 pounds now. He's a big boy. Wearing size 9 months or 12 months clothes. Diapers size 3 or 4. He's really starting to enjoy the toys on the exersaucer. He skreeches and laughs some, but he is quieter now than he was a couple of months ago. Back then he had been making sounds like dadada, ingaaaa, geee, etc. None of that now. He sits up for a few minutes when placed in sitting position. He loves to be on his tummy and side. He mostly sleeps on his side now; he quickly rolls to his side when I put him down on his back. Occasionally he rolls onto his belly to sleep. The problem with the belly is that he gets stuck there. He can roll from back to side to belly, but not the reverse. He constantly rolls to belly when playing on the floor. He is starting to try to scooch and I think he'll be able to roll to his back soon. No teeth yet. He now eats some fruit for lunch in addition to the fruit and cereal breakfast and veggie and cereal dinner. I'm still bf but am going back to work 4 days a week starting 8/31 and I'm going to do formula in the day. I'm going to try to keep bf morning and evening and if it works out, I'll continue that for awhile.

Did/does anyone else bf just morning and evening? I'm wondering how my supply will hold up with that schedule....

I'm attaching some recent pix.

Hope all is well with everyone. I love the updates from everyone above!

Love,
Jackie
