You may remember that I shared my pregnancy with a few of my close friends. One of them had the worst family tragedy happen - her, her husband, their 2 year old daughter & their 5.5 month old daughter have been on vacation in Florida. We found out yesterday that on Tuesday, one of them (details are still sketchy at this point) took a nap w/ their baby girl, Maddie, on the couch & woke up to find that Maddie had slipped down between the cushions & had suffocated & passed away. The news has shaken our close-knit group of friends to the core. I haven't stopped crying since I heard the news yesterday morning. It is a real wake-up call for everyone with small children to make sure that you heed all of the warnings that you hear but never think could happen to you. It has also made me treasure every moment that I have with my boys even more than I did before.
I know you don't know them, but please keep their family in your prayers. I can't imagine what they are going through. I just don't see how I could wake up in the morning if that had happened to me. But they will need to keep living for their 2 year old.
I forgot to mention that my friend's husband (they are both actually close friends - not sure why I said just she was a close friend) - his father died in the hurricane & their house was flooded to boot. They evacuated to her parent's house in Beumont, TX & then they got slammed by Rita (a couple of trees hit the house). They just moved back to New Orleans 2 months ago. Their have already gone through so much this past year & now this.
Thanks.
