So it is September. Really, how did it happen that we have 6 and 7 month old babies!!!
I hope that all are doing well. This is the time that they are really starting to show their personalities... some laid back, happy to sit and play, others are impatient and want to go. Some will happily eat all you put in front of them and others will start to be picky... ah.. the joys of personalities!!
Mum, is this a week on the meds now? I know you said you last post was going to be only positive, but inquiring minds want to know. How is the renovation coming? I hope that there are not too many snags. I know what it is like to have to make a few sacrifices in order to keep some sort of semblance of a budget. I think we are still recovering from this last bought of renovations.
Elena, how is it going? work still kicking your butt?? I am sorry that what was supposed to be a part time gig is really 40 hours a week... I guess that is part time for a Dr.
Jen, I hope you enjoy the start of school and having one (or 2?) less boys to take care of during the day.
country, when is spring going to start? I am looking forward to hearing about your garden again as ours is dying away.
grape, I love the power of the facebook rumor... I am letting it fester![]()
So I commented on facebook about how happy I am that Allison is starting pre-school and I will have a few more hours to myself now and grape says that it will be great in light of recent events... being Allison's poor attitude/biting Fiona and stuff. So now my friend is wondering what the recent events are, as does my mother... I bet they totally think I am pregnant... and it is kind of funny for them to be thinking it, so I have not quashed the rumor yet. It is just too fun.
I am going to try my hardest to get a cookie batter ready tomorrow morning so that Allison and I can make snickerdoodles when she gets home tomorrow afternoon after her 1st day of school... maybe my attempt at a family tradition... lets hope I can keep up with it. We had orientation today and I am very happy that there are more girls in her class this year. Last year there were 3 out of 10 and one of the girls was a real brute. So I am hoping that she may find a little more in common with some of the other girls in the class this year. That same girl is not well behaved and in her class again and Allison talked about how "e" is the one that is bad and that Allison is good in class. Ugh... I do hope that she stays well behaved for the teacher and only acts out for me.
ok.. getting really sleepy
Happy September![]()

well it is officially spring here.... sept 1st.... and the weather has cooperated with some lovely warm weather....of course not good for the ski fields but nice for everyone else. saying that though it will be back to being cold next week with snow on the way.... but at least we have a weekend of prefrontal warmth.
Elena.... how are you going with your busy chaotic house?? is the nanny still hanging in there? How is DH going? I hope he is feeling ok. Is sammy enjoying school this year??
I hope that work is not too hectic for you...I dont know how you do 40hrs and look after everyone... I struggle with my 27hr week and its just me and A...... and you are still getting some quality time with tommy.
Mull....well I had too google snickerdoodles... and I must say I really really like the look of them...mmm might try to bake some.
Im glad that allisons new class seems to be going well so far.. I hope that she enjoys the term,
Lol... you are really being sneaky with the rumors...
Mum... lets hope that toby begins to turn a corner at the 6-7 month age and begins to catch on the sleep thing... did you start the prilosec??? my baby brain is short circuited at the moment. How is the renovations???
grape... I hope that zoe is going well....
hi to everyone else....
well I seem to be more exhausted now than when arabella was a newborn... Im sure that its more the fact that I am busy +++ at work, I spend my brief lunch breaks trying to get jobs done while A is in daycare and fit in acupuncture as well... sigh.... on top of that the teething evil demon has stolen my child. Im finding that I am being woken up by her crying several times a night, and she has become really dependant on me.... happy to play independantly if I am in eyesight.. but cries for me if I get hidden behind the couch. Today she was happy to be cuddled for 30mins which is so not A.... as she is my human dynamo that never stops moving.... so she must have been a little miserable. Amazing though she is still in happy spirits and is rolling from one side of the lounge to the other... the baby gates go up next week..lol...
So I am somewhat sleep deprived... managed a 40min power nap this arvo... and I still managed to go sking the last 2 mornings...which have been good to clear the mind..but bad in that it makes me even more tired..lol... so I have lots and lots of jobs to do tomorrow....
I made Arabella some chicken boiled in milk and then added cheese sauce and pureed.... it was yummy..well to my taste buds anyway....and arabella seemed to like it, she has also had yogurt this week which has been a hit and I made some brocchli and pear this evening... so we will try that tomorrow.
My FET stuff is getting closer... I ordered the meds yesterday and booked my airflights..... so I just have to continue to chug the vitamins... and eat healthy..... which I think is a lost cause.... today for lunch I had a snickers bar...some licorice, and some potato chips...lol..... so not healthy... oh well....Ill try tomorrow...
stay well everyone.....country girl 44yrs

Mul, I hope Allison stays well behave, too.
country, When is your FET?
Well I was stil upset about the scan so I called my Ped who also said they should be cutting back at the ER on scans. SO I still have been depressed about it so this morning I caled the ER and Radiology.I cannot change what happened to us but I can **** well help it from happening to someone else. I spoke to the head of the ER and was told I should have been given more options. She is going to have the Head ER Doctor review the visit and call me back. I spoke to Radiology and WYatt did receive a Pediatric level of dpl 483 mgy. She said that the Doctors should explain to parents beforehand and she understands my concern. I feel slightly better but I am tenacious when angry so God Help that ER Doctor. I will have his head on a platter. It is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness. Confucius

Country - Yea for the FET! I can't wait to hear all about how it goes. Oh, Arabella just loves her mummy so much it's hard to have her disappear for even a second. It's tough being a baby sometimes!
Mull - Oh, snickerdoodles sounds like a lovely idea. As long as it doesn't make you crazy trying to squeeze it in - got to find the balance - but if you can do it, then that's a wonderful tradition and I might have to "borrow" your idea when the day comes to send Toby to school. Yikes, that feels far away for now though.
Grape - No apologies necessary! It's hard to stay on top of this with so much else going on in life, but I love that we still do.
AFM - Thanks so much for asking about sleep/renovations. Okay, first renovations. Well, it's progressing slowly but surely. We lose our temporary apartment Sept. 30. So, I'm desperately hoping the new place will be ready by then. Not just superficially ready, but totally ready for a baby to come in (free of dust, painting done, etc). However, I have to be in San Francisco for work the following week. So we may go "live" in Denver for a week and a half with my parents if it's not ready. That way I can work from Denver, zip over to SF, come back and work from Denver, then come back to NY when hopefully it's ready a week later. We'll see.
Sleep...well...I think the Prilosec may be working. I don't want to jinx myself though!! 3 nights ago was one of the worst nights ever. Toby woke every hour and didn't sleep more than 45-60 mins in a row even ONCE during the night. However, the past two nights have been progressively better. Last night he basically slept 8pm-6:30am with only one wakeup to eat at 3am. Of course, he still woke 2-3 other times and had to be rocked back to sleep by DH, but that took 5 mins which for us isn't bad at all. Of course, the rocking to sleep does confirm we'll need to sleep train more or less eventually, but we're waiting for now.
You know what, though. If the Prilosec works, I'm going to feel SO BAD that I didn't get this for him like FIVE MONTHS ago!! Poor guy has then been in pain his whole little life. Oh how awful. I don't want to think about it. But, I guess the positive is that if it does work, then we've finally, finally, finally figured out how to help him.Me - PCOS, DH - Perfect
3 cycles clomid then 4 cycles follistim IUI = all BFN. IVF finally worked!

jen.......good for you.... we have very strict guidelines here and because of them I think I have scanned only 2 childrens heads in my 16yrs of medicine.... the medical and radiology body in australia had a huge review several years ago and now radiation and children is being taught to all junior emergency doctors and it is avoided if possible..... we actually uss quite a few baby heads post head injury... I certainly scan more adult heads.... we have a special criteria for scanning adult heads... (introduced by an american study) and unfortunately alcohol and a head injury qualifies you for a scan these days.... sadly most are drunk when they fall off balconies or drive their cars into trees.
saying that though...normal xrays of the arms, legs, chest are very very low radiation and have little cummulitive side effects.... an xray of the arm is about the same radiation as sitting on a plane for 2 hours... a CXR is like flying sydney-london......
The radiation exposure has become an increased problem when we now have these new CT scanners which take 32 or 64 slice pictures (32 or 64 images in a given thickness increment) and increase exposure..compared to the old 1 slice scanners (1 picture per thickness increment) we had when we were young.
oh and another point you might want to bring up... observing a child for 3 hrs takes up a bed...so a lot of emergencies these days scan a head just to free up their beds... so its a decision made not on what is right for the patient but one more on clearing patients out of the emergency department quickly.
I hope that you get some closure....
oh the FET...
FET.... start injecting around oct 27th, have hysteroscopy around oct 28-29th... transfer around nov 10thLast edited by country girl; 09-02-2011 at 05:22 PM.

Well I filed 2 complaints, one with the State Health Dept and one with the Joint Commission. After the ER head confirmed that I should have received more options and the Radiology Tech telling me she wishes the Doctors would inform Patients, that was enough for me. I also called the Head of patient Services and the Hospital Office, neither of whom answered or called me back. They have no choice but to respond with the Health Dept. ANd I want a formal meeting with the ER Doc and the head of the ER. I will call news station if I have to. I have to do something positive with the Mommy guilt.
Oh and my Mother keeps reminding me that when I was a baby I fell off the changing table and broke my orbital bone. She told me that I had a ton of x-rays and turned out okay, lol. I guess it also helps that our family really does not really have a history with cancer, 1 person and she beat it. More heart disease and strokes. My Granny is like 94 and still kicking. Scot's family does not have great genes with the ALzheimers and Heart Disease.Last edited by jenmom2myboys; 09-02-2011 at 06:18 PM.
