Dinner ruined (and I've lost confidence in my ability to cook anything!!!)

I cannot tell you how many times I have done this lately. It's getting ridiculous. This was a delicious, large, London broil. I forgot it on the grill for about 2 hours! It shrunk to half it's size! It is kind of funny, but I have really lost my confidence!! It's not just one time.... many times lately! ugh! I cannot multi-task and cook!

I'm sorry. Just looking through the posts here; even though I am an atrocious cook.
I have to set the microwave timer for anything I'm doing that is time sensitive. Of course when the timer goes off (if I hear it since apparently as I age, I am also going deaf) I can't really remember why I set it, but if I stand in the kitchen usually the sight of a pan or the oven on will trigger the reason for the beeping microwave.
Don't lose confidence; I love reading your recipes and cooking ideas.

Oh my...2 hours? Weren't you getting a little hungry by then?

Don't feel bad, I've ruined things before too. I overcooked noodles and they were so mushy! The timer is a great solution, I have started doing that too.

Of course you can cook - you are the BC for the favorite recipes board!!!

Seriously though I think we have all done something like this ... I have just about killed a beautiful Le Creuset teapot that dh gave me last year by forgetting about it on the fire (more than once)! It would actually whistle if I left the lid down too!

Sorry I'm tuning in so late. I hope you've overcome your feelings of failure! You are not a failure!
Messing up lots of meals...are you pregnant or something???

Step back to the stuff you do well for a while. You'll get your cooking mojo back in no time! (Setting a timer really helps, especially on those days when the kids distract me more.) :hugs: Here's to better cooking days to come!

You couldn't stay out of the kitchen if you tried so I *know* you'll be back to your normal self really soon. This happens to all of us!

that looks like the food I cook on the grill....seriously, I have to use a timer for anything I make. its the only way I can usually not burn anything too bad.

I hope Dave or Ronen don't see that pic-- it might be grounds for revoking your BC status

I'm lost without my timer, too. Many fewer meals are ruined when I use it!

You can report me if you want!

I tried this again last night and made it very rare. It was actually very good though. I used the timer AND stayed by the grill!
