I wanted to express my love for this spice blend.
I just can't stand "plain" food which really gets me in trouble when there's little time. I've used chat masala a lot, but last week I litteraly had 10 minutes to make something nutritious. I just chopped up chicken breast, stir-fried and sprinkeled with chat masala and DH thought it was wonderful![]()

Same as Lynn, here. I know what Garam Masala is but have never heard of Chat Masala. I assume it is an Indian spice blend?

Do you make the mixture yourself? If so, would you like to share it? I often hear about it and have wanted to try it.

I have done some great reasearch
and this is what I've uncovered... chat masala is an Indian spice blend. Oh, I also found some "chat masala" at www.masalatalk.com lol
Ingredients
4 tbsp coriander seeds
2 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tsp ajwain (thymol) seeds
2-3 whole dry red chillies
3 tbsp black salt crystals
1/2 tsp citric acid
1 tbsp dry mango powder (amchoor)
1 tbsp salt
2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp white/black pepper (optional)
Method
Roast the first 3 ingredients seperately
and powder them with the chillies, black
salt and citric acid.
Mix in the remaining ingredients.
Store in an airtight container.
Will keep well for years.

It's an indian spice blend like garam masala. It's on the "musty" side, kind of mexican in flavor if you ask me. It's a good standby like chinese 5 spice. Go get some!
