how long to wait between 2 ivf cycles? need suggestions.

Hi all, i just completed my 1st ivf/pgd cycle and got BFN and AF on 7th sept.
I want to move on quickly however want to give my body enough time to recover from 1st cycle. How long is generally recommended to wait in between cycles. My RE wants to start me on BCP and do IVF#2 in october with only 1 cycle gap in b/w. DH thinks waiting 2 cycles wld be good for my body and is aiming for november 2012. any suggestions?

One normal cycle is typically what people do, but there is no harm in waiting 2 cycles. I would want to avoid the chance of being delayed (cysts etc.) and having my beta be anywhere near Christmas though. I started cycling in October last year but the cycle was BFN on Thanksgiving, and that really did not make my holidays bright. I would advise you to either do the one cycle skip like the RE suggests or consider putting it off til January (unless you need to do it in 2012 for tax purposes).

Just something to consider. But yeah, most REs only have you wait 1 month to get all the extra hormones out. Good luck!

I'm with Impatient.... Mine makes me wait at least one cycle but it usually takes a month just to have the WTF meeting so generally 2-3 cycles. Not that you won't have great luck with round 2 but doing it around the holidays is rough. My m/c was Thanksgiving last year and it made for some seriously poopy holidays. You'd be surprised how a few months does the body good but if you're like me, you want to get the show on the road, immediately. Wishing you the very best of luck!!!!

    FET #1 - BFN
    IVF #5 - feb 2013 (Donor sperm) - BFN
    FET #2 - May 2013 - BFN .....and that's a wrap.

We did our best but it just wasn't meant to be.

    ng2012,

    Welcome to FT!

I would not do a cycle anywhere near major Holidays either. I made the mistake of doing that, and boy did I regret it.
    It was very very challenging.

I would wait til end of year and start up again. The next 2/3 months are beginning of holiday season and it will get very stressful.

    Hope that helps.

Do be aware that if you already did a cycle this year, you can get a tax credit if your medical expenses total more than 10% of your gross income. This means for some people cycling near the holidays might very well, as sucky as it sounds, be a better idea than waiting for the New Year.

SC Impatient> thank you so much for making such a good point. Everyone should take note when their medical yr begins and ends in case any of the uncovered expenses can be deducted for tax purposes.

starting next yr, the costs need to exceed 10% instead of the present 7.5% of your AGI
