Sometimes I feel like I am learning a new language with all these terms that come up!
I had my first IVF cycle in January and was diagnosed with a ruptured Heterotopic pregnancy and needed emergency surgery to remove embryo #1 that ruptured [which I would have thought was impossible with no fallopean tubes] though the 2nd embryo was a fighter and survived 2 1/2 more weeks until we lost the heartbeat.
Now I finally have the results from the tissue from the D&C, Trisomy Chromosome 16- has anyone ever heard of this or had experience with this?
I am worried that my frozen embryo's will end up with the same problem.... We are hoping to do our first FET in August, and I am freaking a little...
Thank you in advance if you have any info.....

Hello!
I know how you feel with the new language. I need a cheat sheet for all of the acronyms! I don't have any info for you, but just to say that I'm here for chatting. I am going for my pre op appointment tomorrow and I have a D&C scheduled for Friday morning (6/29). I did my first IVF cycle in March and it was cancelled on day 7. This pregnancy was from cycle #2. I had 2 8-celled embryos transferred on 5/10. On 5/24 got my BFP. On 6/11 had my first u/s and saw and heard the heartbeat (one). Second u/s on 6/21 showed no HB and RE said it looked like the fetus died 4 days after my first u/s. I'm still numb. My RE said they can do testing on the tissue from my D & C as well. I think it is a good idea. May I ask-do I have to pay for the testing? This is physically, emotionally and financially draining....but still I soldier on!
I'm going to do some research on common chromosome defects causing m/c and see what I find...
Did your doctor say when you could try again after the D & C?

Hi Castle,
I am so sorry you are finding yourself in this situation. Did you have PGD done on your embryos? From what I have read, it seems you can do PGD on embryos that were frozen no later than day 3. This test would help you determine if others are facing a Trisomy 16 abnormality as well.
Best of luck!
Kim

Joley- I am so sorry for your loss. I think the tissue testing was covered, as I don't remember having to pay for that- we have Tricare and had to have preauthorization for the D&C [Care for Miscarriage on the authorization letter] so I think it may have been included in that. As for doctor's clearance to try again, we were told to wait 6 months but that is due to the surgery I had that ruptured the horn of my uterus with the first embryo. So sorry you have to go through a D&C, I think it is better than a full on miscarriage but it is still hard.... I will be thinking of you, eat some junk food and relax.

Kim- We did not have PGD done, my problems have always been tubal so I never even thought of it. I was excited you read that frozen embies can be tested, though ours were frozen after day 3-we transferred at day 5 and I remember him showing me all 5 [we froze 3].
Thanks for listening ladies, it sure has been a sucky year. Good luck to us!2007 ~ Married

Terri, sorry for the bad luck. I had an iso-whatever ectopic that ruptured (0.5 cm from the cornua). However a subsequent HSG indicated the tube was blocked. What tube? They removed 4 cm of it at the uterus! Drs couldn't explain - I opted to proceed with IVF as planned. I did PGD and learned that, as expected for my age (38), half my blasts were normal and half my blasts were abnormal. What was interesting is that my "worst" (graded) blasts were my normal ones!!!! So for those folks who transfer the "best" (graded) blasts or simply half or less, I definitely hold hope for FETs of the blasts! Sometimes the (truly) best are saved for last.
This is a long hard road to be sure. Hang in there.

TTCyears - Thank you for posting, you give me real hope for my frosty blasts! So interesting you had a 'near cornua' experience as well.... I had never even heard of it happening before but I guess that goes for most things I am coming across lately, lol. Thank you again for sharing, yay for little low grade blasts!
