Failed IUI got period before 2ww over/sad & lost?

I am new to this site and am feeling a bit lost today. My husband and I have been ttc for almost 2 years. In this journey I have been diagnosed with PCOS, Endometrosis, Ovarian Cyst anf Fibroid Cyst in the Uterus and recently learned I had elevated prolactin levels. I have had ovarian drilling and been cleaned out and fine tuned all in hopes to concieve.

I have begun to meet with a fertility specialist and am not taking meds which dropped my prolactin levels into normal range. I did one cycle of Clomid which failed and just finished my first cycle of injectables with IUI. I have had some horrible side effects and my ovaries got overstimulated and 2day woke up with unpleasant surprise, my period, stronger and worse then ever, a week earlier then my normal date. I am only 12DPO and didn't even get to take the pregnancy test at the end of the 2ww. Now since I had such a strong reaction to the meds, the doc wants me to finish out this cycle and then another before continuing on with treatment.

I am devastated, sad, and not sure how to handle this. I really thought this was the month, and my bestest friend and closest cousin both had babies this week making all those in my life I am closest with parents, except for my husband and I . I am soo happy for them and embrace each baby that comes along., just sad for us.
Has anyone of you ever gotten their period early while in treatments before the 2ww was over? Any info is appreciated...

    Hi Hope,

I'm so sorry that AF showed. I also have PCOS and have found that when I do IUIs with injectables, AF always shows up either 12DPO or 13DPO. I never make it to the end of the 2ww. Also, AF is always very heavy for me during a medicated cycle, and I typically have to sit a month out in between cycles. I know how hard it is to have a failed cycle, especially when you are surrounded by new babies and expectant mothers. Take some time to grieve and don't feel badly if you need to distance yourself from your friends for a few days.

    Thinking of you!

You need to make sure your progesterone is high enough. Technically, you should not bleed until you STOP the progesterone. My IUIs never worked cuz this KEPT happening to me! Finally, when I moved to IVF, the good doc told me it was RIDICULOUS that I wasted all of that time w/ IUIs cuz my progesterone wasn't high enough! Even IF I was going to get pregnant, I couldn't maintain it because I needed HIGHER progesterone supplementation. UGH!

So, you should NOT bleed thru the progesterone IF it's strong enough.. Talk to your doc about this and INSIST on upping it so next cycle is not the same.

    Hello everyone!
wow, that is interesting about the progesterone. I found out recently my first IUI cycle was BFN. I am PCOS too. I was told to stop the progesterone. I am waiting for my AF to come. I ovulated for sure two weeks ago. I was told by my endo. that my progesterone was low but when I was tested by the RE they said it was on the lower side but not bad cause I was still ovulating on my own. The Docs were impressed with my cycle and hormone levels and my DH sperm count but still a BFN! even with the iui and ovulating 2 to 3 eggs - This sucks!!!!

Waiting now to start my second IUI cycle

it is rough when ur surrounded by babies and people whom it seems to come with ease.
Hang in there - we have to stick together for support

Hi. Just had my second failed IUI cycle. I also have PCOS and got AF 10/11dpo both times. AF was also very heavy. So I too never make it to the end of the TWW wait.... yet. FYI my progesterone was over 150 when they tested it a week ago. So I didn't need supplementation, but it has still failed. Even the nurse was shocked by how high it was. You can never tell. Now I'm waiting on the horrid heaviness of AF over the next few days.

Sorry to hear your news. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in what you are feeling. It seems like people going through infertility are surrounded by people having babies. Even if you are truely happy for them, it is still hard. Keep trying, don't give up!

    hope5510, naravyn, and Simmone,

I'm so sorry to hear you had a failed cycle. I have just experienced my first failed IUI as well
The point about the progesterone is interesting. I did a natural cycle but in the back of my mind I wondered if having progesterone support may have helped. having been pregnant through IVF only (which was medicated of course), I question if my body knows "what to do" naturally!

I think after failed cycles many of us question so many things.....its a part of the process I suppose. Anyway...just wanted to chime in and send a virtual hug!!

So sorry holly. This process is so hard.
Further to the above message, I spoke with the nurse and she told me AF was coming way too early and I needed more hormone support. I did a bit of research and found out about luteal phase defects which causes you to lose your lining early so implantation can't succeed. It is characterized by AF 10 or 12 days after ovulation. I'm going to push for progesterone throughout, but not sure if they will go for it. So hard to find out I have even more problems to contend with.

    Hey all,
I recognized some names from the May buddies thread. Add me to the failed cycle list. 2ww is not quite over but I started spotting yesterday which pretty much means that AF will arrive tomorrow sometime. Our two IUI cycles have been completely unmedicated as we have been using donor sperm (last count was 20 million) and I have no known problems. I am starting to wonder if I should ask about my progesterone levels as well. My RE had me chart my temp for two months before we started IUIs to see if my cycle was regular and that to ensure that I was indeed ovulating. All looked well on the charts; elevated temp from mid cycle indicated that I was ovulating and maintaining progesterone levels until AF. So I don't know. Maybe our timing is off, maybe my body just doesn't know what to do with sperm, lol. Any advice is always welcome. We are all so different so its hard to compare what works and what doesn't.
