Clomid and IUI

Hi everyone, I haven't had any failed cycles yet, I hope I'm not out of line posting here but I just wanted some adivce. I just found out on Wednesday that we have unexplained infertility. The doctor wants to start me on Clomid next month and try IUI. I was just wondering how many of you have been through IUI, did it work? How long did it take? Are you going through it now? I just want to hear someone elses experiences because I'm freaking out about this.

Also is anyone taking Clomid? How do you feel on it? Is it like PMSing or worse? I'm new at this sorry for all the questions! Thank you so much for you help!

You should check the IUI board, there's lots of people there that have had success with it. If you're unexplained it's pretty standard for them to try that first, one of my friends had their first clomid/IUI work. We, on the other hand, just failed our 7th.

The cycle isn't that bad. The clomid gives me hot flashes like crazy, especially when I'm taking it, and somewhat for the rest of the month. I don't have any other problems from it, but I'm sure people's experiences are different. The IUI itself is also pretty quick and painless, they just insert a catheter into your uterus and inject your DH's washed sample.

It's definitely worth trying, good luck!

Hey, I actually have been trying to get preggers for 4 months with IUI. It hasn't worked so far. This cycle I took Clomid days 5-9 and was a little scared. I did have hot flashes on the medicine, but this will be totally worth it if I get pregnant. Today, I got inseminated and now will just wait to see what happens. My doctor said there is a 10% chance of multiples usually resulting in twins. She did have one case of triplets. Anyways, I'm not infertile but I do use donor sperm so I wanted to increase my chances of getting pregnant. I did read online that using clomid is one of the first steps of infertility. Remember iui itself has an average of a 20% success rate of conceiving.

My experience was a little worse, totally worth it, but a little worse. I was very senstive (not a sensitive person), irritable, and had pretty bad cramps as well. My seventh IUI worked. I wouldn't change a bit of the cramps, irritabilty, or sensitivty though.
