Failed Cycle with Clomid on to Puregon Injections
Hello All!
Well, first cycle not successful with clomid and progesterone....on cycle day 2 now and went to the clinic today to begin cycle 2. A few unexpected surprises today....Dr put me on Puregon injections (75/day) and if the needles in the stomach weren't already enough, the price nearly put me over the edge...hoping my health benefits cover some of it. After TTC for over 3 years now with one M/C, this is all starting to get very frustrating especially because the side effects I had with the Progesterone were similar to those of pregnancy...couldn't help but get my hopes up. Anyone else on Puregon? Any success stories? Please share. Baby dust and well wishes for everyone! Trish

Hi Trish,
I'm on my 1st IVF cycle and start puregon this coming Friday. I'd like to know how you're feeling on it. I'm currently taking suprefect and my last BCP is today. I am deathly afraid of needles (and I mean almost pass out afraid!) and couldn't believe how easy the injections were! I froze the area of my stomach where with an ice pack and voila! Didn't feel a thing! I was shocked! I'm with Mt. Sinai but live north of Toronto, where are you cycling? Would love to share more. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mixy |

Hang In There
Hi Mixy,
The puregon needles are actually VERY EASY to use. I too am not a big fan of the needles, but amazingly enough, I had no issues with the puregon pen. As for side effects? I haven't really noticed anything, no side effects that I can think of. Good luck to you!!! We tried naturally last month with Clomid and progesterone but were unsuccessful. I am on cycle day 14 with Puregon and am in tomorrow for IUI. Wish me luck!! 2 days of IUI and then the dreaded 2 week wait with progesterone. The 2ww is horrible especially because the side effects of the progesterone are a lot like those of early pregnancy. Good luck to you and I am sending lots of baby dust your way! PS I am cycling at a clinic at Yonge and York Mills and live 10 minutes from it. Very handy!

Thanks
Hi Mixy,
Thanks for the well wishes. I'll let you know if 2nd 2ww is any better than the first. I am saying a prayer for you as well. Apparently the IUI is a pretty quick and painless procedure, guess I'll find out tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
