When is enough enough???
Ladies I need some help. DH & I are trying to decide when enough is enough. We have done several IUI's & the last one ended in a miscarriage & this current one is ending as a chemical pregnancy. Can you please tell me your thoughts on how you decide when to stop treatments? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I decided that I would keep at it until I exhausted all efforts in trying for a baby. We did several IUI's as well and then decided we needed to move onto IVF. And decided we would do 3 IVF's..we paid out of pocket..though our meds and b/w and u/s were covered by Insurance. I knew deep in my heart that I had to give it my all before giving up. It's a personal decision. Listen to your heart and your head. Sometimes taking a break does wonders. I guess it depends on how much emotionally, mentally and financially you can stretch yourself. Good Luck to you!

I have also been contemplating when is enough enough....
Christmas is especially hard with no children to enjoy it with.... a DH that won't lose those 20 lbs the dr told him to lose for his health and infertility..... and so why should I keep putting myself through this after 4 failed ivf cycles and numerous iuis. pray. That's the only way I think I'll find the answer. GOod luck. |

I agree with Caligal. Sometimes you need to step back from it all and take a breather. From that you can get a new perspective on what you need/want to do in regards to IF. Everytime I get a BFN, I want to throw the towel in and call it a day. Mostly that's just me saying it out of anger and frustration. After a week, I'm ready to do the next cycle. (I took a break and have decided to do at home IVI's in January.) It all depends on what you're willing to sacifice financially, emotionally, and mentally. Your heart will tell you when its time to move on. I wish you the best in whatever you decide!!

Tamicory~I think it really depends on your circumstances. How old you are, diagnosis, etc... For example, my husband and i went through three injectible cycles for iui and all failed....it was our denial though. We wanted to keep trying and doc didnt discourage but didnt recommend it with male factor issues we had. Had i really understood, i wouldve went right to ivf with icsi, which is what i am doing now(2 grade A 5 days grown transferred in today!) So it really depends. I think if the right factors are in play, you should def try ivf, but cost is difficult obviously. If this works, we will be paying a payment of 430$ for the next several years(we got 6 cycles for 25,000 through integramed with 70% money back if no baby).

I think only you will know that answer, you have to do some thinking and talking it over with your dh. Have you been tested for immunological factors? That might be something to look into. Also if you haven´t done IVF, I would do IVF before stopping all treatments. Also look for the best RE in your area. Good Luck in whatever you decide.
