Question & need help!

Hi everyone! I have a question for you all who have been through IUIs.

I am on my #2 IUI, and I only have 2 follicles on the right side (I had my ultrasound today). I do have one on the left, but I guess the dr. said he thinks that one is left over from last month because it is way too big.

My dr. upped my Clomid intake to 150 mg this month to try and get follicles on both sides, so I am really disappointed. The nurse said the dr. was not thrilled with this outcome, but we will go ahead and do the IUI anyway even though it is not a good cycle. (I don't get to talk to him myself, always a nurse go between, so I don't know the exact language he used)

My question is: Is this NOT a good cycle?

I don't know what a "GOOD" cycle would be! I do know that last month I also only had 2 follicles on the left, and so there was no change, even with 50 more mg of Clomid a day. The only other drug I am taking is Ovidrel, the injectable trigger.

My dh and I are considering not spending the money this month if this is not a "good" cycle. Why waste $300?? dh wants to wait for a "good" cycle, but I do not know what that would be. Do people do that? Just get the u/s each month till you get a good number of follicles, then do IUI? I can see his point!

Thanks for reading and any advice! Sorry so long!!

My RE wanted to do an IUI one month when I knew things looked bad and I said no because it was going to be a waste of money. It is 400 where I go. I think I have the highest priced RE around! I moved onto IVF because I thought that was the only way to go, but that is not working that well either. I wish you the best of luck!

I agree - I think the doctors are very free with our money - we'll try it but it's not good - well then don't do it! They don't realize that every failed attempt is heartbreaking and that money is an issue. My insurance covers IUI but not some parts of the washing - it's weird. Give it some thought before you try a "not good" cycle.
