Anyone been in my shoes??
Hi everyone. I am new to the boards and have a long bittersweet story. My journey began over 2 years ago after dealing with endometreosis most of my adult life. Hubby and I TTC for about 9 months before we tried our first IUI. That did not work and we went to IVF and I got pregnant on the first shot. I had 17 eggs- 2 transferred and 3 frozen. When my DS was 9M old we TTC naturally for 3 months before moving onto IVF last September. Much to my surprise although I had lots of resting follicles only 8 eggs were retrieved (same protocol as first ivf long lupron and follistem). D5 transfer of 2E which were of similar quality to my DS but BFN. RE felt I should have gotten preggers. Next cycle was in November in which we took down my lupron and brought up my follistem however only 5 eggs were retreived and on D5 2ET but found out later the quality was not so good (1 was not even a blast). After finding the strength to move forward RE changed my Jan cycle to a D2 start witout lupron high Follistem and an antagonist (forgot the name). Again D5T quality was ok so we did a 3ET. First Beta was 17 and number rose as far as 250 but eventually miscarried before my 1st US. Although depressing I tried to look on the bright side that atleast I got preggers. All along RE felt I would get preggers again being I had in the past and that my egg quality/numbers were on the low side for my age (36) which was unexplained. I went for a 2nd opinion and a very famous RE concurred with current RE that I would get preggers, there is no reason just taking longer. Good to hear but still depressing. Had another HSG just to make sure lining looked good and it came back normal.
We decided to use our frozens after this and in April began taking estrase. After adding on patches with the estrase cycle was cancelled as my lining was not responding although my estrogen was rising nicely. Another blow but at least we had not waisted my precious embryos. Began another FET mid May (AF came after 24 days -my cycle has been so strange after so many months of IVF) with valerate (an injectable estrogen). Lining was good after 2 biweekly shots. Day of transfer all 3E unfroze great - was of amazing quality. Entire cycle was very calm for both me and hubby low stress. We were both very hopeful after the good transfer news. Well BFN and hubby and I were both in shock. I finally switched RE's and did another IVF this past month only to find out today that it was a BFN!! This was a great cycle for me 16R, 12E, 3 D3T, 2F. This practice almost exclusively does D3T they feel they are better back in you... I also did accupunture along with this cycle. I am sort of numb at the moment can't really cry but after talking with a friend of mine I think I want to ask the RE to do immune testing on me. Anyone have luck after multiple failed cycles? I don't understand how one can get preggers on the first try with IVF yet have such an impossible journey only 18M later? Is there anyone out there with my story and possibly a good ending? I need tons of hugs and support.

Cookie, I so sorry! (((((((HUGS)))))))))
I have had natural failed cycles for 3 years now, so though I have not been through all the fertility rigors, I feel for you. My dr. feels I can get pg because I did before, and there is no explanation for it. During these times we are just relying on our faith, because that is all we have! We just attribute it to the fact that it is not in God's timing yet, and that we need to wait on him to decide when it will be right. |

Hi cookie2,
I read your story- I m so sorry. I hve not been throught the riggors of IVF you have, I am going through my first right now. Anyway, I just wrote a post to another girl about immine testing. I am not an expert in it, but I would like to share with you that I have had three miscarriages. My first pregnacy ended lte in the game and I was very ill with what they are calling "Drug induced Lupus" from some previous medciation I was on prior to my BFP. Just before I miscarried I had severe joint pain which led them to test my blood. I came up with ANA positive, showed that I had Epteen Barr at one point, and was dignosed with connective tissue disorder. I have found that the RE's where I live as well as Rheumatologists think that immune testing is old scholl or something. I had a complete blood work up and before I started IVF, and my new Rhueumotologisy said I was fine. But I am ANA positive with aspeckled pattern and my titer is high enough to cause me problems based on Dr.Beers research. I do think there is a link. IF this IVF fails from any kind of miscarriage I will probably conact Dr.Beers practice or someone who deals with Immune disorders directly before I move forward. If I were you I would get tested if you have the means- I have red allot of great success stories regaridng womn with recurrnet miscarriage, seconday infertility, and woman who have a hard time getting pregant get BFP after immune testing and getting the right drugs to help them. The tests can be expensive but check out the forum for immune issues- theres allot of smrt people there!

I have a mild case of lupus. I have a high ANA with a speckled pattern. I have gotten pregnant with donor embryos because of POF but I haven't had any pregnancy complications because of the high ANA. It really depends on the type of antibodies located in the blood that causes the m/c. Immune testing is important because there are antibodies that cause the blood to clot and also other problems

Thanks so much! Immune testing was my next thought but after just speaking with my RE he felt that since I had a successful pregnancy through IVF that I did not have immune problems. He also said that since I do not have a history of mc that even if my numbers were hight he would not treat me for it. I am so frustrated and upset right now I don't even want to continue. My RE is pretty famous but I can't help feeling like my gut says something else is going on!
