Cancelled cycle...

Hi ladies,
Well, my cycle was called off today (cd 15) after an ultrasound. My follicles were not mature enough. They were right around 1 cm and my RE said they needed to be around 2. This was to be my first IUI. My RE wants me to try 100 mg of clomid next cycle (I was on 50 mg this time) but he thinks that I most likely will not respond. After that, he'll move me to injectables. I really like my RE and trust that he is doing right by me. I think it's good that he's ready to move me onto something else instead of sticking with clomid for another 6 months or something.

My question is.....has anyone not responded to clomid but done well with injectables? I'm a little freaked out about injectables. Clomid did not affect me at all except for hot flashes at night. I'm a little apprehensive about moving to injectables, but also excited to be moving forward.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer!

hi: i started on 50mg of clomid also, with no luck, then my RE moved me up to 100 mg & i had a good response to it, but never got a BFP. after a few months it started to thin my lining so im now done with clomid & moving on to injections. i have a class at my RE's office this saturday to show me & my DH what to do. i agree that its a little scary but the women on these boards gave me encouragement & just the thought of not being alone helps a lot!! (plus i have a very good friend, who's a nurse, that said she would give them to me if i couldnt do it!)

good luck!

the injectibles are not bad at all

I tried clomid for 8 mo until my RE moved me to injectibles (I have PCOS). I was on Bravelle and Lupron. The needles are very small, you really don't even feel them. The only side effect I had was a little weight gain/fluid retention. It also stung a little when the medicine went in, but after about 5 min, nothing. The downside is the cost, and the time--you have to go into the office every other day for bloodwork and ultrasounds in order to check for possible OHSS. I got good results, but the IUI did not work and AF came 10 days after the IUI. My RE now wants us to try IVF. We can only afford to try once, so I am really hoping for a BFP this time.

I was initially on 100 mg of Clomid and had no change so my RE put me on Follistim @ 75 iu and I've responded pretty well. Still no BFP but I'll know on Monday how big my follies are this round. Good luck! Inj. aren't bad at all.

Hugs
Rae
