Ovulation Sticks - Do They Work?

Hello Everyone!

Another one of my famous polls.

Have you ever had reason to question the reliability of your ovulation sticks?

I just recently used the ClearPlan --- I think it is Clearplan Blue and never saw a surge line, when I usually do, but learned that I was ovulating via other sources. Now, I am beginning to doubt the overall reliabliity of ovulation sticks...any thoughts?

They always seemed to work for me, but that was a couple of years ago. Sometimes I think we can get "bad batches" of hpts or ovulation sticks.

Babylove,
I am with you. After 30 months I have never .... ever got a positive ovulation predictor. I think they don't work for everyone, or I have never ovulated?

I agree as well. I tried them for three months.I have become so frustrated from negative test results. I resent these kits now.

My RE uses the Clearblue ones. He says that they are the best and suggests that NOBODY buys the big-expensive-kit thing-a-ma-bob.

I personally have only gotten a positive once in three years following a clomid trial (aka HIGH doses). That tells me it works if you ovulate (for the vast majority of people, I suspect)

I've been wondering about the reliability myself....I know I o because of my progesterone level being 17.1 but the only time I see a surge is when I'm taking the clomid, and I know the clomid givies you a false +. But I will keep using them this entire month I bought a huge supply off the internet.

I used answer ovulation kits and always got a surge...and worked for my IUI timing...but some drugs do affect their effectiveness. So you do have to be careful.....and as for timing.....if your cycles are irregular that can be very tricky as when to start and stop testing....Just my thoughts...

I used ovulation sticks. Every month they told me that I was ovulating and every month i didn't get pregnant. we wasted so much time depending on them. I finally went to the obgyn and then an RE and it turns out that I never ovulated. (yet the sticks always came out positive). I had terrible experiences using them and haven't gone back to them since. However, i do know others who have gotten pregnant using them, so i guess it just depends on the body.
