Shingles question

OK, my MIL's dr thinks she either has shingles or lyme disease. They're treating her for both, but she's not having any bloodwork done to definitely figure out which it is. Do I need to keep Marley away from her? Everything I've read says yes, but I thought I'd ask you all your opinions. Thanks so much!

I thought that shingles is the adult form of chicken pox ... just to be safe I would keep Marley away.

I would keep her far away too. Call the pediatrician to ask how long you should keep her away. I am so sorry your mil is going through this!! When I was pregnant they thought my dad had it (turns out he didn't) but the ob said I was not at risk and neither was my baby.

keep marley away from her, for sure! just in case, b/c kids don't get vaccinated for chicken pox til 12 months.

and if anyone's preggo, keep away from shingles patients, too! i had to pass on seeing a pt the other day b/c they had shingles....can be dangerous for the fetus!

i was going to say the same thing...keep her away. they say that it's contagious until the lesions are scabbed over. but you know what? i personally wouldn't let riley near someone with shingles until they were completely gone! that's just super paranoid/hypochondriac me talking though.
