Endo is NOT the cause of my infertility?

I had a lap done a month ago, wherein my gynecologist removed some endometriosis. My fertility doctor had found an odd cyst outside of my ovary on a vaginal ultra-sound, and sent me for a consult, thus the lap was performed.

Now, after two failed IVF cycles with ICSI, I ask the fertility doc if he thinks the endo was the cause, and he says no...but can't give me any other reason for it. I am almost 38, have type 2 Diabetes (under tight control).

We are about to start a third cycle, the protocol being Lupron Stop. I was pretty enthusiastic about it, until the doc made the comment about the endo. Anyone have any input?

Doctors will vary on this issue. Many believe that mild non obstructive endo doesn't cause any real IF problems. Other research has shown that even mild, microscopic endo can cause issues. Endometriosis has been shown to have a connection to problems with egg quality and uterine implantation. There also has been connections to immune issues (read the sticky at the top of the main page).

I have always felt it's best to not only surgically remove the endo, but also treat it with a 3 month cycle of lurpon depot before starting an IVF cycle. Like I said not all doctors believe in this...but I've seen more than several successes here on this protocol to make me a believer!

Best wishes to you!
