Lupron Depo/IVF

Just a couple questions I wasn't sure where the best place to post for answers was since there are so many sections of FT...but I was wondering about those who have taken Depo Lupron for 2-3 months (although I've heard of some taking it for as long as 6) before starting an IVF Cycle. Did you wait until you stopped the shots and had your first AF before beginning the cycle? Or did you just start the IVF cycle 4 weeks after your last shot regardless of if AF had returned yet or not? I read on an RE's blog that typically AF takes anywhere from 8-10 weeks after your last shot to come. And I was just wondering do people really wait that long before they start cycling since I have friend who didn't and started 4-5 weeks after her last shot. Thanks in advance.

I didn't do IVF, but IUI. My RE had me start my cycle meds right away before AF had a chance to start. She said she likes to start her patients while they are still supressed.

I did Depot Lupron for 5 months.

My last Depot injection was 4/28, and I went right into daily lupron injections starting on 5/29. I did those for a week, and then started my stims on 6/7.

Unfortunately, my first IVF resulted in zero fertilization, and I was able to jump right into another cycle in July, and I am currently 21 weeks.

So, I never had to wait for a period. My RE wanted me to go right from supression to stims.

Good luck!

whitley--i did 5mos lupron depot then we went right into a cycle, so no waiting for af, my RE wanted me supressed as well. we did two cycles before the lupron and were not successful. i am a firm believer that the lupron helped us to be successful on the third. good luck!
