Opinions on this, please (and please be nice to me) (m)

I hope you guys will be nicer to me than they were over on the small business board (or whatever you call it when you sell items you have).

Anyway, I have been an executive assistant supporting a design/construction department for 18 years.

On my way to work Friday, I passed the community college and low and behold on their billboard was a sign saying Construction Property Management.

This is definitely a male dominated field here.

If I could (at age 39) get my associates in this and become a project manager, I could liked make $20,000 more per year.

Has anyone else ever done anything like this (i.e. get degreed in the field that you "support"). How did it go? Especially at my age.

Thanks, guys. And please be nice to me.

It is not difficult, with the education and experience. The hard part is to do it within the same company. I went to school while being a secretary at my company, and they help pay for my BA. I got the promotion, but nobody could break away from me being their admin. Then I got my MBA, and the same. Finally, I broke away from the company, and am pursing my doctorate.

It is hard, but you can do it.What was your bad experience? Where are you talking about?

Hey I know this is an old thread but I would love an update. I am also interested in construction management and wanted to know if Barky enrolled and if so how is it going?
