emergency surgery
Hi everyone, I had a ectopic pregnancy a week ago and I had just found out I was pregnant the day before everything happened. Me and my husband were trying to have a baby for two years and I couldn't understand why I couldn't get pregnant. I had already had two girls 12 and 8. There was no problem with them. Well all of a sudden the other week I had a sharp pain hit me and then my stomach started swelling fast and I couldn't breathe. I was rushed to the hospital and that's when the told me I had a ectopic pregnancy and it had ruptured which I had to have emergency surgery because all the swelling was blood in it had reached my lungs. My left side was removed and I had to have a blood transfursion. The doctor said I was very lucky and blessed, because he didn't think I was going to make it. Now I'm so down and depressed because I lost a baby. I feel like he doesn't love me anymore because he wanted a child so bad. My two girls are his stepdaughters but he assures me he loves me and it is just me. He says that we will have another one after 3 months, but since it took two years for this one I'm scared it will happen all over again. No one really seems to understand. How are you suppose to deal with this kind of lost especially when you were already given a due date and you know there was a baby growing inside you. Even though it was early 7 weeks I feel somewhat empty inside.

Jatina, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've never experienced an ectopic but I've had 2 m/c's at around 10 weeks and I know the feeling that you are feeling of being empty inside. I know that there are many other ladies on this board that have gone through what you are experiencing and I'm sure that they can help you more. I just wanted to send you some hugs and just tell you to be gentle with yourself and take time to grieve the loss of your baby.

If you have had an ectopic it is not the end of the world. I know it is hard to deal with especially after waiting so long to get pg - I had 3. I assume now you have one tube and depending on what the other looks like you still have a chance at getting pg naturally. You will need to do an HSG (dye test) to check the patency of the remaining tube. If it is blocked IVF would be the way to go. A scary thought but I am a strong believer that when there is a will there will be a way.
I have 2 boys and am pg with #3 via IVF. I am a tubeless wonder Just be prepared for a little challenge at getting pg. On the other hand I had a friend who got pg with twins, one was ectopic, the other she miscarried and she got pg 3 months later... so hope is not lost.

So sorry for your loss. I was in your exact position (minus the blood transfusion) about 5 years ago. My Dh and tried for 3 years with IUI but had difficulty getting me to ovulate from my side with the tube before my tubless side ovulated. We ultimately moved on to IVF and were success are first cycle. I wish I didn't wait so long to move onto IVF but am sure that if I had rushed things that I may have regretted and wondered what would have happened if we tried IUI.
Let your grieve, maybe find a professional to talk to. take it easy on yourself, you, DH and your body have been through a lot!
