Does Ebay ever call you about opening a store?

They called me for the second time this morning wanting to discuss opening an Ebay store.Both times I've told them I am too busy to talk,so they send me an e-mail.I've been on the fence for a while about a store trying to decide if it would help cut my fees.I just figure that as soon as I open one I'll not have time to sell and still have to pay for the store,lol!

I'm seriously considering it as I could sell little girls jewelry in a store and then list everything else the regular way.

So,2 questions I guess-do they call you,and do you have a store and like it?

I've never been called but I don't sell that much, either. I know we've had some people in the past that opened stores - hopefully they'll come along and help you out.

I don't think it was worth it. Yes it was a cheaper way to list something I had a LOT of, but I still had to list those same items as auctions to get any traffic in the store. And even then, I think probably a good 75% of my sales were from auction listings.

I usually look in sellers stores if they carry something I am looking for, but I don't think alot of people do. What are you planning on selling?

Joanna,I would sell all my usual used/new clothes/misc. and occaisional car parts plus some embellished overalls/boutique type outfits with matching hairbows and jewelry for little girls in regular auctions.In the store I could list additional little girls jewelry.I am mostly wondering if having a store would lower my fees much.I'm usually paying $30-40 most months.Here is the last 6 months fees:
November=$25.29
December=$38.66
January=n/a
February=$54.43
March=$32.12
current=$44.49

I search thru Ebay store's results during my searches,but never go directly looking thru stores.I need to go read up all the info. because I don't know a whole lot and was hoping to cheat and ask here first to save myself time if it won't help save me $$.

Sherri,

Check out eCrater.com. I just opened a store there and I link to it from my "ME" page on ebay. It's a completely free site. No listing fees and no FVF's. They automatically submit you to "Froogle.com"... And it works!! I did a search today on a couple of my products and I came up on PAGE 1!!!

Here's the main site: www.ecrater.com

And here's my store: http://justthething4u.ecrater.com/

And here's some discussion about it at Free Auction Scripts Forums: http://www.freeauctionscripts.com/co...merce4050.html

I figured, what the heck! It's free and it was so easy to set up. We'll see what happens.

Holly,that is really cool-and exciting!Do PayPal's buyer and seller protection policies apply there?I saw some handcrafted children's clothing too-and there is a children's jewelry section.Wow,did you look at the "sex stuff" category .

Keep me updated on how this goes for you-I may try it out when my jewelry arrives.No fees is VERY tempting!Is it completely allowed to link to this on your Me page at Ebay?That would be awesome!

I didnt know they call!

Anyway as for opening a store. I have done it twice! First time was when I just started ebay and feeling so confident. Didn't do well, closed store. I didn't have a lot of stuff then, I'm not even kokeshis were in the the picture then.

Anyway fast forward to a few years which was recently. I have a big following of kokeshi buyers and thought this would be great chance. Closed it again when ebay fees hiked. But even if they had notraise stheir prices, I would still have closed though. No. 1 reason, didn't have time to list stuff! Even now, I am already having a hard time listing 5 auctions a day. Another thing, it really takes time and effort to let your buyers know of your store and you hope to get more traffic into your store. Too much trouble for me. For now auctions is fine. I'm now working on my website (when I can figure out this domain thing, website builder thing).
