Waiting to hear back from ebay. I think I got a VERY GOOD spoof/virus email today.

I havent heard back from ebay yet but I think I got a spoof email maybe even a virus email today that looked VERY real(like the ones you get when a buyer clicks the ask the seller a question link) and the contents of it makes you want to click on the link. Dumb me did even though I havent sold anything in a few months on ebay. Can you say DUH? Knock on wood, I closed the link immediately and forwarded the email to ebay. Pray that I didnt get a virus.

Here is the email.... when you click the link, it says that there is no such auction. I then checked the ebay name and it doesnt exist. This was AFTER, I clicked the link.... BIG DUH for Dawn.


This email was sent by an eBay member via eBay's email forwarding system. If you reply to the email, your response will go directly to the member and not through eBay.

I got two like that one week - except they both said "I sent the payment a week ago and havne't heard from you." Ebay confirmed it was a spoof. They're getting better.

I've gotten one of those too. I agree they are getting better and better. One from paypal I got that almost fooled me was about electronic funds transfer and that if i had not done a transfer recently, to click on the link. duh. Glad I didn't.

Dawn, I hope you changed your password already, since you did click on the link.

FYI:

"Don't click on links in suspicious e-mails, especially those asking for personal information. Even if you don't supply it, just clicking can enable thieves to access your computer, record your keystrokes, and capture passwords you use to log on at various websites. "

I just changed it now. I didnt think to change it since I didnt put in any personal info. I just clicked the link and closed it out right away when it said that there was no such auction. I am more scared that I may have clicked right into a virus. I did a scan right away so I am praying that I am safe.
