HIGH shipping costs .. not as much as $12.99 ...

I purchased a luggage tag and when I received it - it was sent in a #10 envelope for only .60 to ship and I paid $2.50 ~ I was curious as I thought this was going to be in a padded envelope and when I asked the seller ... this was her reply:

Hi the shipping and handling fees include listing fee of 70 cents and final fee of about 60 cents when anyone uses paypal I am charged another fee. Some of the tags we are still loosing money when we subtract the original cost for us. If we offer shipping at $1.00 and start the tags at $4.00 no one wants to bid. the larger items still only cost 70 cents to list if we start below $9.99. Hope this helps you see why it is considered handling fee. THANKS for asking.

Carolyn

As long as the shipping prices aren't exorborant (sp??) , I honestly don't mind a little "padding". When I bid , I always consider the shipping into the price. . . if the total price is too high, I just don't bid.

Pretty much what maggi said. I look at the total price and if it's more than I would want to pay, I hit the BACK button.

I agree with the ladies above.

Just recently I bid on a scooby doo cake decor and she quoted $3.00 for shipping and I agreed to that. When the package came, I saw that postage was only .80!! I thought about complaining but decided to let it go. If it were $4, I would probably say something. bec. i know it's more hassle for people to mail out international packages and I didn't want to use that decor if it was associated with trouble. Especially for Sho's birthday! lol

Oh, Also I would think they would add more to "handling" if out of the US as this does involve a trip to the PO. Most US packages are Click N ship type and we don't have to stand in PO lines, but International we do have to go to the PO, wait in line etc. I can see why a seller would add extra for that.
