M/C at 5 weeks with DE

    Hi there
I do not know where to start. Yesterday and today have been the worst days of my life and my husband and I are in a complete daze right now. After a DE, single embryo transfer on August 6th, things went really well to start. I had a BFP at 5 days past transfer and my HCG levels were great 11 days past transfer. I made it to 5 weeks however a few days before the 5 week mark I noticed quite a bit of period like cramps. I was told it was fairly common and not to worry. I also had very few pregnancy symptoms with the main one being a growing waistline and belly. Well, yesterday, while at a wedding, the cramps really started and I was bleeding. Bleeding and cramps persisted all evening(we left the wedding immediately of course), and this morning, my abdomen aches and I have had a small amount of watery bleeding only when I sat on the toilet. I am waiting til after 10am to be able to call the nurse on call. I am so scared and SO SAD. Any thoughts or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and my main question is I do not know if I should stop all estrogen and progesterone supps now- I am thinking probably yes. I think I am still in a bit of denial that I am actually miscarrying.

I'm so sorry Don't stop taking the meds until you chat with your doctor. It is so traumatic when this happens. Take it easy today and go to the ER for an hcg test if you can't get in touch with the nurse.

I'm so sorry u are going thru this believe me I have been thru this heartache so I know how scared u are. First of all call ur dr and don't chg your meds until instructed. I started bleeding my first pregnancy and my third and both were not miscarriages. Unfortunately I have suffered one miscarriage in my second pregnancy with de and now am pregnant for a third time and dr is thinking it will also end in miscarriage so I def know what is going thru ur mind. My dr did tell me at least 80% of pregnancys experience bleeding in the first tri so don't throw in the towel until u know 100%. Pls keep us posted

Definitely DO NOT stop meds until you are checked.

I had a lot of bleeding during my pg and it was NOT a M/C.

Please check back and let us know. I hope it is not a m/c and everything is ok.

    Don't stop your meds.
Are you on an aspirin a day protocol? That will make you bleed more.
go in for an ultrasound. Seeing the sac and yolk sac will reassure you.

    update re: m/c

    Hi there,
I apologize for not replying sooner! I am so sad to say that I did have a m/c. I guess when you have cramps AND bleeding, that is not a good sign. LOOOONG story short, I have since had my f/u with my RE. Even though i have only had one miscarriage and one chemical, I will be doing immune testing. My Dr. felt it couldn't hurt. I have registered with Alan Beer so we will see what they have to say. I have a couple other things to add about my experience but not sure this is the right thread. I will be on this site again on the weekend when I have more time to write. Thanks to all of you who were thoughtful enough to reply to me.

I'm so sorry! How terrible to go through so much and have such disappointment!

Good Luck with your immune testing. I agree with your doctor - it couldn't hurt! Other women have started that protocol and it's made all the difference.

Oh Greta, I am so sorry. I was really hoping you were experiencing "normal" bleeding.

I think anything you can do to be proactive and find out what the heck is going on is a step in the right direction. Best of luck to you in your testing and future cycles. If there is anything I can do to help you (a shoulder to cry on, doctor references, etc), please let me know.

    ((hugs))
    Kim
