How many cycles?
Hi Everyone
I'm a newbie & Looking forward to meeting you all. Here's my story; I have done 2 unsuccessful IVF cycles using my own eggs- apparent Implantation issues. (High FSH and Age factor) the first cycle was in May, the other in September. My RE wants me to move on to DE for the next cycle. Just curious, on average, how many cycles does it take for it to be successful? I have 2 more tries left and I haven't decided yet, but I may do one more with my own eggs, and then move on to DE, but that would just leave me with one cycle that would be covered under my insurance.

Sorry about your failed cycles. Tough decision for sure. You want to make sure you gave it your best efforts with your own eggs so you don't wonder what if for the rest of your life.
Having been in the process for more than a year, and on this board, I can say that most people who do not have implantion issues, are successful with donor eggs in the 1st or 2nd cycle. Do you know if your ins will cover donor egg cycles? Most do not. Your meds and monitoring would be, but not the donors. Also, if your eggs were still of decent quality for transfer and it has been determined to be an implantation issue, donor eggs will not neccesarily change that factor in most cases, unless it's because the zona is too hard (usual so for older women.) In those cases they usually do assisted hatching and success rates normalize. I have implantation issues and have had 3 failed fresh donor egg transfers of good quality blasts...given 71% success rates each time. Thankfully, despite the high sucess rates, we elected shared risk for alot more $$, but it has already paid for itself and we get 3 more fresh cycles + FETs before we get all our $$ back. Good luck with your decision and with having a successful pregnancy with whatever route you choose!

Actually the reason they aren't implanting is (according to my RE) is that my egg quality isn't good, high FSH & bc of my age(over 40) and according to him, they aren't implanting bc of this problem. My uterus apparently doesn't seem to be the problem.
Hopefully, if I do a DE cycle, I "shouldn't" have a problem with implantation bc of egg quality. I am wondering if the failed cycles had to do with immunity issues? My RE didn't recommend any further testing. Thank You for the well wishes
