Hi!
We did a single cycle and we purchased the 2 cycle promo. I tried to pick traits similar to me (height, hair color, etc) but I also paid close attention to how each donor answered their questions.
It was great to be able to read all the answers to the donor's initial questionaire... some really put a lot of thought into their answers and others not so much. I was more comfortable with the donors that really put thought into their answers as I felt they would be more responsible with taking meds/adhering to appt's, etc. I don't know how much proof there is to that, but I felt the more mature the donor appeared, the more likely they would take all the prescribed meds and such.
I also chose a repeat donor. What's great is when they are a repeat donor you can look at the statistics of the previous cycles (how many days to stim, how many mature eggs received, how many fertilized, whether a pregnancy occured, etc). This way, you get a good gauge as to how many eggs you "may" end up with. We ended up transferring 2 and we have 4 frozen for more cycles. I just found out last week that I'm pregnant with twins!
CNY is now recommending accunpuncture before/after transfer (you don't have to do this, but if you choose to there is the Healing Arts center right downstairs from the office). I was told that they don't have any actual "evidence" that it works, but they did say their pregnancy success numbers have greatly increased since they started doing this. I did it, so I'm a believer!
When I went to the CDC website I saw their statistics from 2007 and it looked like CNY had ~ 50% success rate for fresh cycles. The newer data hasn't been published yet but I will be curious to see if they go up. When I was going through proven donors I did notice a lot of women did end up with positives after doing a cycle.
There definately are other facilites that do have higher success rates (like 80%) but their prices for me were just too steep. CNY definately made it more affordable for me.

The RE looked up the latest stats for me and it is 53% live birth rate for fresh and 18.?% for FET. They just started using vitrification (last year?). Prior to that their live birth rate for FET's were 9%. Ugh.
Hope I defy the odds. I chose to do another fresh cycle i/o FET for the better odds, but had rotten luck and had to freeze everything. The stats for our cycle are not up yet, but the other couple had 10 embryos alive at 5 days..and 6 frozen 4A's.

Congrats Baby hope on twins! That's what we have been praying for too.

Babyhope, were the costs of the donor medications included in the 2 cycle promotion? Do you know what the cost of just doing a single cycle is? I couldn't find it on the website, I could only find prices for shared or split cycles.

Hi I am new to this site, hope you dont mind me asking a few questions. Have done 2 IVF with my eggs with CNY syracuse, and now is looking into the donor egg program. All the girls are taken for spilt cycle (except three two had a few neg) how long was your wait. We are trying to save up money now since had no IVF insurance. Thank you

Detroit,
I was on several egg donor lists at the same time. For my second DE cycle, I used a donor I had been on a wait list for 5-6 months. Many recipients are also on several donor lists. So a donor who has several people ahead of you can become available more quickly than you would think. Most of the split donors have excellent stats---especially compared to the single cycles. From the amount of mature eggs retrieved, it sounds like the donors are stimmed very conservatively. Which is a win-win-win for all parties.
Good luck!
CAUTION: miscarriages mentioned:
Picking my first egg donor was brutal. Then picking donor embryos was relatively easy. Then picking a new ED and a new SD was about in the middle. The more failures and m/c's I have under my belt, the less 'picky' I was getting. Focusing more on the experience of parenting and family dynamics rather than 'fitting in'. I did not grieve the loss of my child conceived from ED any less than I did the babies with my own eggs.
Hang in there. I checked the site daily while I was waiting.
Dana
currently on third attempt for transfer due to lining issues...

Thank you Dana,
It is very differcult. Sorry for all your losses, hope it works out for all of us waiting. We are movong slow which is driving me crazy but cant seem to get it together to move any faster if that makes any sense. We just want to make the right choice. This site helps in understanding the whole process.
Thank you for listening

Ok sticking my nose in. I didnt do a donor cycle BUT I did go to CNY! The Syracuse office. I was surprised when I saw it mentioned and just had top post!
We were doing IVF with a RE down here in NEPA and b/c PA doesnt require IF insur coverage, we were going to be forced to stop treatments b/c we couldnt afford anymore.
(LOSS MENTD!!)
After our son, Ryan, was stillborn, we got hit hard with hospital and testing costs. We paid over $13,000 for one fresh cycle here. (a FET was over $6000) Knew we were at the end of our rope and financially we wouldnt be able to do it again. A friend who was a FTer mentioned CNY and well..
Drove the 6hr round trip (sometimes daily!) to CNY and did two fresh cycles for about $11,000. Their financing was amazing! It was our only way.
(PREG MENTD!!)
IVF#2 didnt work- followed old RE's protocol and had just a few eggs at ER, only made it to a 3day. But IVF#3 we went with a more aggressive protocol and it worked! Our little princess is expected in 4 weeks or less. So thankful to them every single day. Also loved how in control you were of your cycles. IVF#3- we ET'd 4 5day blasts. My old RE would've fainted if I had even whispered that when we were with him.
IVF#2- Did accupunture before and after ER and ET. IVF#3- no accupunc but did Intralipids.
Good Luck to all!Last edited by RyansHope; 03-05-2010 at 12:04 AM.

prior loss mentioned
Quick update. Third attempt to transfer frozen embies did not work. Lining still stuck and fluid in uterus. RE's suspect Asherman's Syndrome from my m/c and D&C of my first DE cycle at CNY. Not encouraging and I'm very disappointed. It is challening doing monitoring away from my cycling RE at CNY. This could delay me a year---if my lining can be 'restored' enough to carry a pregnancy.
Glad to hear of the success stories. I've been fortunate to meet a few of the people who have had success.
Dana
