After our two sad negatives last week, it's great to read some good news!
Congrats Msz on your adopt approval. I can imagine how your heart must have skipped a beat when you got that letter. Wonderful news! Please keep us posted!
Furrvis and Ginger - so so so happy for both of you! I agree with the other ladies that it sounds like you have a double package on board! Can't wait to hear the ultrasound results. How are you both feeling?
Twins - that's a great number of eggies! Way to go, got to be some wonderful embies out of that. Sounds so promising!
Hi to everyone else!

Please excuse me for posting three in a row, but I just wanted to be sensitive to the news both good and bad that has happened on this board recently.
I have a question about donor lists. I finally have my consult in a few days and haven't been able to add my name to any lists until then. I've emailed Pati and asked about waiting lists. I'm just wondering if it's worth putting one's name down on a donor list who has 10 or 11 waiting? I'm hoping to cycle in your Winter this year. Has anyone made it from #10 to actually cycle? What would be a 'reasonable' number on a waiting list to have a realistic chance of cycling in 9 months time? I know this is like asking 'how long is a piece of string' and that there are a number of variables, just wanted the opinion of the ladies who have BTDT.
I've also narrowed my search somewhat. Now I have included blood type (0+), positive cycle, good medical family history and split as 'musts'. Flexible on skin colour (black, white, mixed all okay), don't care about hair/eye colour, height or weight. I must admit that with bio I'm looking for someone who seems to have altruistic reasons for wanting to cycle, but realise that's hard to tell and may be too restricting. Education would be nice, but not a deal breaker. Obviously my 'musts' really limit my choices and the wait lists on most of those donors is fairly long. Should I put my name down for uncycled donors with the hope they will have good cycles and become a split? What do you guys think about a donor who has donated once - 30 eggs, 12 embryos but negative cycle? Would you include her on your list?
Thanks for the input, very much appreciated. Also many, many thanks to the ladies who give us the 'split alert' warnings. I've found your info really helpful as I find I get bogged down trying to sort through the way the database is set up.

Hi everyone,
Iris, you asked whether it's a new policy to stay on your donor lists until delivery. I don't know personally but I had assumed I would get dropped right away which is why I asked to be kept on until at least 8 weeks. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.
nydreaming, a list with 10 or 11 on it is fine. It can go fast. I am on 2 lits that haven't moved at all in 10 months, and others that have moved very fast. It all depends who is in front of you, whether they opt for someone else, and whether they get pregnant from another donor cycle before they reach the top. And I am a firm believer in putting your name on unproved donors' lists in hopes that they will split. Doing that and being a super list stalker netted me places on 2 additional splits' list including 32707. There's nothing like the feeling of clicking on that profile and discovering your gamble paid off and you made the right choice! It's like blackjack or something.
As an fyi, my donor I was successful with, 36770, is 0+ (as am I) and a split. Likely an insanely long waiting list too, though.

ginger- Im glad that they will let you stay on your lists. When I inquired about long lists she said that lots of lists move fast because of positive betas and those who do get pregnant come off all waiting lists to make it fair to those waiting. So that donors werent being "reserved" for those who were already pregnant. And after my last cycle was cancelled she told me I would stay on my lists til a positive beta. But maybe they do different things for different circumstances.

Best of luck, iris, grn and twins! Twins, that should be more than enough fertilized embies for your BFP.
Hello, EOE. Got my repeat beta: 2353 (18 days past "ovulation"). Last one was 907, so the amazing betabase says doubling every 34 hrs.
Furvis, I went back and checked your post on your 18DPO results, and they were almost the same! Seems like whatever we've got, we're in it together. I'm not worrying too much about the HCG correlating to # of embies right now, though, because in my last pregnancy before the January one, I was 800HCG on 17DPO which is the average for triplets on betabase, and it was a singleton.
Have a great day, ladies.Last edited by gingerginger; 04-12-2012 at 10:40 AM.

ginger - Your donor I was first on her list for a single and then I went with my donor. I don't really beat myself up too bad for that since my donor did get me pg. I am now back on her list for a split and I am 6th so I will let you know how it goes. I am next on capnj's donors list and that may come up soon. Who knows what will happen then. As I said before I will probably pass.
Also when I was doing my fresh cycle I was 8th on another donor's list and before I even cycled she came up as available so you never know what the lists are going to do!44 Single High FSH DOR

Msz,
I really hope you consider cycling with my donor when your turn comes up. I know it's a big expense, especially with the prices going up, but given her consistency and amazing sheer number of embryos, it seems hard to pass up. Given that you know you'll get a big number of frosties, it is a relative bargain (coming from someone who paid $22K for a DE cycle in Toronto unsuccessfully, these huge dollar figures have become shockingly relative to me).
Yes, please let me know if you do end up doing that. I think it's amazing that you are pursuing adoption and I am totally excited for you, but I think we all know the value of redundancy around here. :-) Capnj's donor is great too, of course. I would have put my self on her list from day 1 but was looking for brunette only.
