Donor Egg Question

I am new to this so please excuse this question if it seems stupid. When a clinic advertises that it does "egg donation (known)", what exactly does that mean? Does that mean the clinic knows their information and I don't? Or does it mean that we have to know or meet each other?

I think that what you are referring to is that a donor may be known to the recipient (as in a friend, or family member). Conversely, an unknown donor is an anonymous donor through an agency or a clinic's donor pool. There are varying degrees of anonymity. It's different for each clinic and you'll have to ask about what kinds of situations they offer. In some cases, the recipient is not even allowed to see photos of the donor. In some cases, only baby pictures are provided. Still in some cases, adult photos are provided, but there is no sort of communication between the donor and recipient family. In our case, we chose an unknown donor, but we are able to see her adult photos and she has also agreed to meet any child that may be conceived with her eggs should that child wish to do so once he or she comes of age. We could also request a phone call or even a face to face meeting with her at this time. I'm still thinking over whether I want to call her. I think it's good enough for me to know that she is willing to be contacted in the future. This will be written into our legal agreement...
