Finding Donated Embryos

My husband and I are in search once again for donated embryos, but they are so hard to come by. I have one miracle baby from donated embryos from a donating couple we met by chance. It was truly an amazing experience.

My RE clinic will do the transfer but they do not have a waiting list program for embryos.

I know of miracleswaiting.org but would rather meet someone through a clinic or just by word of mouth. Any suggestions or leads as to how to continue our search to complete our family are greatly appeciated.

THANKS in advance for any feedback.

Have you considered placing an ad on www.surromomsonline.com ? You can place an ad there, but aside from that, I'm not sure how you'd go about getting them as you'd like.

Have you considered calling around to some of your local RE's & asking if they have a donor frozen embryo program? Some do & it might be worth a few phone calls!!

Good luck!

Carolsue - Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

Thanks for the responses to this post. I have contacted several clinics and the problem is you have to be an established patient and even then the wait is about 2 years.

So for now, it looks like word of mouth is my best chance to find donor embies to use in the near future. That too would be easier if I lived in a state with clinics offering IVF. We do not have a single clinic in MT that does it. Thank goodness for the WWW.

Have you looked into Miracles Waiting? If you are caucasian, there are lots of possibilities to be chosen as a recipient. Good luck.

The cooper clinic in NJ has a good donor embryos program.

Becky,

Wow, somebody else in MT doing ED. I was starting to think we were the only ones! What clinic are you using? We are headed to SRM soon... just waiting for our calendar.

Sara -

Yep - Live in beautiful Montana - with no REs. I am a patient of Dr. Thyer at SRM - who is your Dr. there? Are you doing Egg or Embryo Donation? How did you make your match? Even though Seattle is my overseeing doctor, I actually traveled to my first batch of Donor Embryos in Phoenix, Arizona for the transfer. Depending on where my next batch are, I may travel there as well. They say it is better to have the freezing clinic do the thawing when possible, and since I have to travel anyways then we didn't have to worry about the transport from point A to B. Excited to have met someone in MT jumping through similar hoops. If you would like to e-mail back and forth - send me a private message. AND best wishes to you.
