new...for those starting DE 7/25/09

well since our old thread was to long, and was closed I started a new one per the instructions of the BC.

Hope we can get this one up and running also.

We did our 1st DE cycle this month and I am just finishing up my 2ww, I have my Beta on Monday. I fear that this cycle was a bust for us (we only had 2 6cell embies to transfer), but will try again.

Hello ladies,

I really need your support right now! The last couple of days were real unnerving and I don't know what to think right now! The retrieval was supposed to be around Saturday or Sunday. Thursday afternoon I am at work, 1/2 hour before my dentist appointment and I get a phone call from the clinic to tell me that I need to pay now because my donor in getting the procedure on Friday. I said: wait a minute, DH NEEDS TO BE THERE TOO, RIGHT? Oh, yes, you need to talk to the nurse.... They give me the doctor, which means that things are NOT GOOD!

Meanwhile I get a text from my donor that things are not good and that the other clinic is trying to reach me....

The doctor told me that basically my donor was undersuppressed and she had an LH surge... She is ovulating... He said that his recommendation would be to cancel the cycle. I was crying in my office. Thank God, DH works at the same place, so I called him in to discuss this. My fear was that our donor was not going to be there for us if we postponed.

After speaking to the doctor once more, I thought: We are only gambling the lab fees. Everything else that we paid already, we loose anyway. The doctor said they could have eggs. It's really not impossible. I said OK, we'll do it!!

Long story short: They retrieved 8 eggs, 2 were not very mature and 3 fertilized. I was hoping for freshies and frosties. Now I am just worried that we may not have even one to transfer...

What a roller coaster!!!

On a positive note, our donor said that, although she is not available in September, she will be onboard if we need her again later. Very good to know!

I am a nervous wreck!

hi everyone, hope all is good!
thanks mel for starting a new thread although i have learned a lot reading the old one.
Dodo - to answer your question, my doctor thinks donor eggs is my only option because we have tried every other trick in the book and nothing seemed to work. what i don't understand is people with a lot higher FSH level then i do seem to be able to get pregnant and when i ask him why he never seems to give me a straight answer, i don't really think they know why, just luck i guess.

we all have an appointment on monday so we will see when we can get rolling, i am hoping for september

molly: if the RE cannot answer your question directly, and if you're in doubt, have your thought of trying another RE? Sometimes a very good RE with very good lab doesn't mean everybody gets pregnant. My fertility therapist told me that there's no such thing as the 'best doctor' which I thought I found one before. She said that if women get pregnant, they will say their RE is good. O/w, they'll said their RE is not good.

Hi ladies!

MelGal - Sending you ++++ for tomorrow's beta!

Anniebou - I've seen people in some seemingly doomed cycles pull of a baby or two! Try not to be too discourged! Don't give up on the three embies you have!

How are all you cyclers holding up?

AFM - going to do an HSG and sonohyst next week just to rule out any abnormalities in my uterus. I've had plenty of u/s and they never found anything, but might as well take another look. HATE the HSG and all that cramping. It's the labor pains without the baby.

RE also wants to do karyotyping on DH to check for genetic chromosomal issues. He's adopted so we have no family history. He mentioned doing a cycle and fertilizing some with ds and some with DH and then doing a PGD on the embyros which I didn't know SG did. I know it's expensive...like 2-5K. DH is open to the idea.

It's a tough call....especially having been diagnosed with some borderline immunity issues. Do we try the immunity path first? Do we go with DS and see what happens? both? Very conflicting, but we obviously have to mix things up a little.

Hi All:

We are headed home across the country from TX. Last night we made it to Vicksburg, Mi and tonight to Birmingham, AL. Tomorrow we will be home! We are pulling our 28 ft Airstream trailer which is 40 years old. So far, so good no major camper problems. I attribute that to a handy DH. PleAse keep us in your thoughts that we get back to NC safely!

So along the way, I managed to lose my vial of delestrogen!!! ( I still don't know how it happened and we can't figure it out! I called the emergency # and we adjusted my dose by 1 day and that will give us time to get a new vial to me at the local pharmacy! whew! What a scare!

Mel Im hoping for a late implanter tomorrow.
Rhonda I would try just DS and immulogical factors and skip the PGD for this cycle. If you are not succesful this cycle, then maybe try the PGD

Annie thinking of you...all is not lost like Rhonda said.
Have to run. More in a bit.
Gab
