Did you have to do any special tests before doing this? My husband and I have been trying but found out he is sterile a couple weeks ago. Everything seems to be a waiting game. The MD wanted me to have some test done to make sure my tubes are open, but I have had everything else looked at even ultrasounds and I am healthy. How long was the prcoess from your first visit to now?

Hi. I have done every test under the sun but may have to do an HSG. Which I will do a month before we decide to do the donor IUI.
Just a little history - we found out about 2 years ago that there was no sperm. We did a TESE/ICSI and found like 12 sperm - 1 fertilized an egg and now he is a baby. All the rest did not fertilize (like 12 other eggs) We just finished another TESE/ICSI and no sperm was found. So we used donor backup for IVF. And those embryos did not take. So we have 2 embryos still frozen but we want to try a donor IUI now. But we are healing from this last cycle for a few weeks. Have you thought about TESE/ICSI with IVF for you and your husband? |

We did many, many, many IUIs and 1 IVF with Dhs swimmers. All BFN. I also had two early m/c on rest cycles in the first year of cycling. I also have endo and O late with short luteal phase. DH has very low counts with not great quality.
After 7 long years of trying DH finally agreed to DS. First 2 times I had chemical pgs. 3rd time I took supplemental HCG shots in the 2ww and BFP! Twins. |

HCG is the shot that you take in order to induce ovulation. REs will use this for timed IUI cycles, IVF or if people just don't have a strong LH surge on their own.
It was commonly used during the 2ww in the 'dark ages' of IF tx. lol Now people primarily use some form of progesterone supplements. Generally vaginally or PIO shots. When I was doing some research on what to do next, I remembered an online friend of mine in France did the supplemental hCG shots and finally got pg. Since we had tried everything else, my RE agreed to let me try this. From what I read, along with progesterone supplementation, it also provides some estrogen. You are also at a greater risk of OHSS (which I did get a mild case of, but I also had 6 or 7 follies). This is one of the biggest reasons why people don't use it much these days, but I swear it was the final piece to the puzzle for me. ![]() I did use follistim in combination with clomid and letrazole. |

Hey. Ok I did HCG shot before IVF. I think that is what we will do this time also. I hope to get pregnant just using clomid - b/c follistim I am kind of sensitive to and would love twins and nothing more. I also did progesterone shots when I did IVF.
We do have 2 frozen embies with my egg and donor sperm but want to try IUI first since I have no known problems. Again, it is not such an emergency this time since we have one baby (both from my egg and hubbies one good sperm!) I meet with a new doctor in July since my old doctor is out of town in NY. I will go back to him (he is awesome and works miracles) if we do embryo transfer or another IVF. But I am hoping the IUI works within 3 tries. I am not going to do it until like the end of October. I want to rest my body from my last IVF! We will see. Thanks for the info! |

IUI with donor sperm
We were given the option of either adopting or using donor sperm in order to become parents. Short story, husband had variococele surgery that caused blockage. Had tesa surgery and it was unsuccessful. So now we have moved on to DS. all my test came back normal so i got the go ahead to do IUI. order 3 vials from bank. first 2 natural cycles of IUI were unsuccessful. Consulted with the RE and decided to try medicated cycle. Dr rx me femera and ovidrel. took femera cycle days 3-7, went back to the doctors on CD11 (saturday morning). two follices(one in each ovary) measuring over 18mm both. instructed to do ovidrel shot that night and schedule iui in for monday afternoon. went in on monday had my procedure and now im on the dreaded 2ww. i have an appt this coming up monday for progesterone bw, then i wait again. Has anybody else been through this same regime? do you think the timing is off? I have been waiting for a baby forever and don't know if i can handle another bfn.
