antibiotics before donor egg transfer?
Hello my dear wise friends!
I am wondering whether anyone has had their doctor put them and their DH on a course of antibiotics before the donor egg transfer. If so, I am wondering what antibiotics, how long before the transfer and for what length of time? Thanks in advance! Diane

Hi Diane- we are currently in DE cycle (yesterday was the retrieval
). My DH was on doxycycline twice a day for about 6-7 days prior to the retrieval and I just started my doxycycline yesterday. Same amount. I guess they want to prevent any chance of infection during the last part of the cycle. Good luck!!! ![]() Gisele |

Maddiemonk: My husband and I both were on doxy about a week before transfer. From what I understand it is given to prevent or cure any infection that either one of you may have. My RE said we only have to be treated once a year. Hope this helps.

Diane - Same here... Doxy 2x day for a week for both DH and me. We started right around when donor started stims. Be sure to have food in stomach and avoid dairy products if you have a sensative stomach.

Ditto to what the others said. I believe that it's standard protocol for both the DH & wife to be put on antibiotics to make sure that there are no infections that could cause problems with a pregnancy.
Some people are sensitive to Doxycycline, some aren't, so just make sure that you at least have food handy in case you take your pills & it gives you a queasy tummy! Good luck!
