Your experiences as a egg donor

Hi ladies:

For those of you who donated eggs, can you tell us more about your experiences?

Have a good day

Donated

I have donated my eggs a few times. I knew that in the future my husband and I would need help (donor sperm) so I wanted to do my share of helping someone else in hope that the help would be there when we need it. Karma. My experiences were all very pleasant. The staff at the clinic were all very helpful and informative. It was very easy to follow the procedure for the injectibles and I got used to doing the shots myself. The morning monitoring went well and worked well with my work schedule. The procedure itself was very quick. I experienced a little soreness and bloating afterwards, but it subsided within a week. Since I have to lift a little at work I took a day or two off afterwards to make sure I felt ok. The feeling of being able to help a couple though has remained much longer with me. I do not feel that I may have children, but I feel I have been able to help someone else with their dream of having children. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

While I myself was not an egg donor I would like to proudly mention someone who donated for my DH and I. It was none other than my younger sister. We actually are on our first IVF cycle right now, we did ER from her on 9-13, ET to me on 9-18, and here I am sitting in the 2ww.

I owe our future children to my sister. Being an egg donor is such a beautiful thing I wish more women would be open to being an egg donor.

I appreciate all of you who have or will in the future donate eggs for a couple. You are truly amazing!

How long does the Process take?

Hi I would be happy if someone who has donated eggs can tell me how long does the Egg Donation process take, and how long are you on the medication before the egg retrival.

It really depends and can differ from person to person. With my sister who donated for us she started the Lupron injections on the 26th of August and then on Sept 3rd started the stimulation meds then on Sept 13th she did Egg Retrieval.

Again this was based on how her body reacted to the meds and how we got in sync with each other it can vary.

Best of luck to you, you are doing a wonderful thing!

I am a four time donor and am about to start BCPs for my 5th for a great couple. I find donating to be really rewarding. We have MFI of our own and will need IVF to become pregnant most likely. So, donating is something I am very passionate about. I plan on doing my 6th and final donation after the new year and then moving on to IVF myself. I have 5 egg donor babies and it is truly a wonderful feeling knowing that you helped make a family whole.

Feel free to ask any questions.
