Donor Agencies, Anyone?
Hi everyone-
I have some questions for you all about ovum donor agencies, but first a quick intro. I am a longtime lurker and occasional participant. After lots of the disappointment and heartbreak we all know so well, and major surgery this past Jan. to remove my stage IV endo (and a few other body parts that apparently I do not need) DH and I are attempting one donor cycle. The main purpose of this final attempt is peace of mind: during the surgery, they found adenomyosis that could not be removed, and I will have to have a hyst. in 3-5 years. After a donor cycle, I can have peace of mind knowing that my uterus is useless to me and saying goodbye to it won't be so hard. Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with any donor agencies. I checked for rules governing this board and didn't see any, so I hope it's okay to ask this question. The agencies we've been in contact with are The Donor Source, Baby Steps, Woman to Woman, Family Fertility Center, Footsteps to Family, Miracles, and Egg Donation Inc. We live in CA, and are also looking at going with a different fert. clinic as we have 3 failed IVF's with our previous clinic. If anyone has advice on CA clinics, I'll gladly take that too! Feel free to PM if necessary. Thanks, all. Reading your posts has been more of a comfort than you know. CJ

Another is Eggceptional Match in Colorado. They have donors from all over the country, it seems most are based in Colorado though. The coordinator, Angela, was always very responsive, friendly and supportive. We ended up using a donor from my DE's clinic, but I wouldn't have hesitated using Eggceptional Match.
Good luck on your DE-IVF journey. Hope this last cycle will be successful for you! |

I can't give suggestions on who to see in CA because I'm not in that state, however, I would definitely get another opinion since you've already had 3 failed cycles with your current RE. Also, when checking around for another RE, I would ask if they have a donor pool that you can choose from. It would be HEAPS cheaper than if you were to go with an agency! Using an agency will add a minimum of $5,000 to your costs (and it will probably be closer to $10,000 extra)
Good luck to you!!
